find an ornament, wreath, or set that's easy to set up and put it in each room and build around it/add to it as you get to it. Another option is to go all out in one room and let the others go. That's my main method, except I leave the nativity scenes up all year long. I collect them and have over a hundred of them. They're not going anywhere.
