person. When we all had covid, I had things delivered and just left at the door so I wouldn't expose anyone else.
delivered...I'm guessing by your story that the person delivering them is not obligated to actually hand them over to someone? No matter...it's a shame you were the one who had to go through and toss out the spoiled/spoiling/possibly spoiling stuff and then didn't even get your pick of what was left. If I were your neighbor, I would've told you to have at it and then maybe pick through the remains after you'd taken what you wanted.
Luckily our foyer was very cold due to the ridiculous temperatures lately, so nothing was gross yet. I was actually surprised it had been more than a day, since most of it was still cool to the touch (except the broccoli, that stuff was completely thawed). I initially thought it had only been out a few hours and was debating if it was still good, as soon as I heard over a day I knew it was trash.
And yikes...like you, I hope the person who dropped $100 on food was reimbursed. The thought of eggs, which are up to $5/carton here and are becoming a little hard to get, just sitting there going bad pains me. Dad and I both eat, well, not a lot of eggs but more eggs than meat sometimes. We like our scrambled eggs (and deviled eggs and omelets and BLTs and pancakes made with an egg...)
I looked up on the website about how much the eggs would have been - I think they were extra large, which are $5.89 a dozen right now (large are $4-something). I love eggs so I definitely would have used them if I'd found them early enough!
I just did a mock order of what I remembered (and looked at a photo I took) and it came out to around $125. I forgot about the Fanta and seltzer that was out there too! Strangely the Food Lion website says they don't sell Poland Spring water but that's what's in the picture. I really hope they got their money back!!!
