Winter Vacations. Do you take them?

I have for years now, taken a 'winter break' someplace warm....a resort where someone will bring you drinks at the pool, and there are many restaurants to choose from.

this year we are instead going to visit friends who recently moved to FL. No, not the WARM part of FL, the very northern part. I am SUPER excited to see my friends, and discover a new part of the US, but there is a little part of me that will miss the pampering.

Do you take a "winter break?" do you do "winter" things, like skiing or snow-tubing/shoeing? are you more inclined to go somewhere super warm, or do you just take a few days off work to take care of personal things, or go see relatives?
