be growing up with MY mom. She constantly emphasized cleaning out pockets before throwing items in the laundry, even though she double-checked, and if you forgot? Well, it was HER item now. OK, she didn't keep used Kleenex or anything icky but she kept ALL the money. Poor Bro was especially bad about forgetting he stuffed some coins, or some paper currency, in a pocket and before it went through the wash, it went into Mom's purse <g>.
As Mom got older, Dad and I took over the laundry. I'm pretty good about checking pockets...Dad is not. Mom had an almost permanent runny nose in her last decade or so (partly due to aging, partly due to certain medications) and Dad was constantly washing Kleenex and then having to pick tiny pieces of shredded facial tissue off the freshly laundered clothes.
It's kind of you to be replacing the Pokemon cards. If I'd been in Jack's place, Mom probably would've only offered to split the cost of replacing them.
