spelling--say, "Vykki" instead of "Vicky" or "Vicki"--but I'm onboard with somewhat unique spellings, especially if there's a cool story behind it. Like my middle name, which is Grandma's name and is spelled "wrong" because of a problem with Grandma's birth certificate. Or another (really sweet) customer I had yesterday whose name was "Connee", pronounced like "Connie". Apparently there was a French film star years ago who spelled her name that way and my customer's mom liked it and did likewise.
Incidentally, I've never met a Carol, or Caryl, I didn't like! I had an Aunt Carol that was one of the kindest humans you will ever meet.
