So I saw the very end when (and I am totally blanking on names because......haven't watched in years, even though I loved this show and the characters) guy (Tim?) proposed really romantically on the beach at sunset to girlfriend....I know who they are and it was so well done, etc.....and then these two people came up and it seemed that they knew the newly engaged couple and were congratulating the happy couple and then they (newbies on the beach) sunk needles in their (happy couple) necks!

Q: do we know these people or are they new random villains? Either way, what a GREAT season ender cliff hanger!

No. They were rando henchman of Heath Everett--an international crime boss this season. Tim and Lucy just thought they were another couple, walking on the beach, who witnessed the proposal. I wasn't expecting it either. I was shocked. In the finale, Tim was instrumental in taking him down and then helped lead a covert group to recapture him after he escaped. That's why the woman said what she said before they passed out: "Heath Everett said payback is a bitch!"

I've watched every season of The Rookie and season 8 was by far my least favorite. They were all over the place. They even had a zombie episode and yet another docuseries one. It just felt like the show had an identity crisis this season.

To end on a positive, they did do a spectacular and extremely impressive sequence, involving an explosion. They seriously need to win an award for this. It was like a freaking movie!
