I spent Monday doing annoying chores like dusting and a little mopping and more dusting and some general tidying up and putting things away that needed putting away. I thought then that maybe I'd do something fun Friday (today). But two things have happened that are conspiring against me...

1. Gas has gone up $1/gallon since Sunday, and it was already high (for my area) on Sunday. I screwed up...I was going to fill up Sunday night on my way home from the Maple Festival but I thought nah, I'll wait till I come home from work Tuesday because gas in my area is often a few cents cheaper on a Tuesday. Gas Sunday night: $3.99/gallon. Gas Tuesday morning on my way to work: $4.25/gallon. Gas on my way home from work Tuesday afternoon: $4.29/gallon. Gas last night on my way home from work: $4.79/gallon at the stations in my town but $4.99/gallon everywhere else. That's...a significant increase, and just hopping in the car and heading off to do something unnecessary and fun (I was thinking breakfast at a café 30 minutes away--only accessible via a couple roads with a LOT of start and stop traffic--plus a stop at a small, independent store that sells beads and fancy rocks) seems wasteful. And that's all I can say without getting political...

2. It's unseasonably cold today and raining steadily, though the rain is supposed to taper off later this afternoon, and I have a weather-related sinus headache :-( And not just a sinus headache but one of my (thankfully rare) sinus headaches that leaves me a little dizzy and off-kilter.

Thankfully, I'm in the midst of a very good book right now, and Wednesday I cooked a pork butt in the crockpot and shredded it up, so now I have some delicious shredded pork in the fridge (truly it was one of my best efforts <g>). My headache has eased a little, and I'm feeling steadier, so I haven't ruled out going into town tonight and getting dinner from the beloved mom-and-pop Italian restaurant (best known for their pizza but they also have excellent pasta dishes--their cavatelli with meat sauce is divine!). It's been at least a couple years since I've indulged in some Guido's cuisine!
