A pool would be a priority for me if I was buying a house BUT if you don’t

think you would use a pool much, it can be a big expense to maintain it. You have to run the filter every day, so it will use lots of electricity. You have to keep it clean via chemicals, vacuuming, etc. You’ll either have to do that regular maintenance yourself or pay a service to do it for you. And if you don’t maintain it regularly, it can be costly to clean up. I think of a pool as an asset that makes a property more valuable. But if you don’t think you’ll use it a lot, it’s an unnecessary regular expense. You can’t ignore a pool and pretend it isn’t there. My mom tried to do that toward the end of her life and it was a mess to clean up. Luckily, we caught it on time to save it.
