drop here - long overdue correction - houses on the market for months even in our neighborhood.
We looked at one yesterday where they are trying to get $530K for a half duplex. Not only was this house not accessible (narrow hallways, sunken living room), but we found vermin remains, and NOPE NOPE NOPE. Mice I get, but HOOWWWW? This isn't an especially roach-prone area.
We must move this year - we need a one story. Rentals are few and far between here, while the housing stock inventory is rising. Hence, we will buy with a goal of moving in September.
I've already spoken to our financing guy we worked with in 2021 (when we did not buy), and our realtor will be my Friend M again, who now has 5 years experience under her belt and has great networks, not just ppl who specialize in our area (we will not leave Greenhaven - great place to age in place), and who also know the loan assumption market.
So M has also developed expertise in the needs of older adults, as well. Something we will need because we will need a place that is or can be made accessible. Marty now has a disability so this is needed.
Wish us luck!
