The cabinet department rep called around 5pm...I missed the call and saw that there had been a call about ten minutes later. I called and she gave me the quote...$11,994.90. I had to pay it up front to secure the quote, but she wouldn't be in tomorrow but would be back on Sunday. She would be in today until 7pm.

I called her back, asked a few questions, then said I'd be there in about fifteen minutes. It didn't actually take that long, but I went to the store right away, we reviewed the contract, she told me where to sign, I checked my bank account (Kenny Rogers, excuse me), then we agreed that I'd pay for it then and there after I signed the paperwork.

Unfortunately, because of the amount, I couldn't pay for it with my debit card. My credit union has a restriction against paying more than a certain amount with a debit card without making prior coordination. I don't recall the actual limit, but the amount allowed was less than the price of the contract.

I tried two or three times before switching to my credit card <grrrrrrrrrrrr>; but I paid for the cabinets.

On the bright side, when the purchase rang up, there were some automatic deductions! I asked if I could use my veteran's discount (10%) and was told that I could not because they were special order/custom made items. The system took $1,024.37 off the total amount, so I only (sounds much better that way) had to pay $10,920.53 for the cabinets. Yeah, team! Any discount is always good! It was more than 9% but not quite 10. Not too shabby.

The cabinets should be ready in 3 - 6 weeks, probably at the shorter time period end because I'm not ordering that many cabinets; but they shouldn't be ready for delivery before the patio and cover are completed. Even if they are ready, they're willing to hold them until I'm ready to have them delivered.

I may put all the things that need to be done on 3X5 cards so I can make sure I have every item and can put them in the right order. We're delaying ordering the sofa for the room until the cabinets are installed. I want to check the measurements before I commit to the 89" sofa. We may have to order an 84" one. I'm probably going to call an electrician I know to put in the ceiling fans and the exterior lights. I'm not sure about the switches for the lights (how many or the placement). I have exterior five lights and two ceiling fans with light kits...considering ordering a Solatube for the short side because it's the future laundry room.

On our way!!!
