town I work in was kicking into gear. I occasionally snuck peeks out the store front window...it looked pretty typical for Snooty Town (not to be confused with ladyday's Snootyville). Lots of middle-aged white women wearing $500 designer puffy coats and sporting $300 haircuts, carrying $10 cups of Starby's (the more discerning ones had $12 cups of of coffee from the local coffeehouse) in one hand and signs with vague messages in the other hand (most reading "Hands Off!"...but hands off what? *I* knew but many of our customers were mightily confused). They mostly milled around, blocking traffic and socializing with one another. I almost ran over two of them (it wasn't that close really...) when they stopped right in the middle of where I was about to park behind the store to continue their chat. I waited patiently--no honking or gunning the engine--but they still glared at me before meandering off. From my vantage point, it looked more performative than passionate.
OTOH, bff's brother and niece actually organized the Hands Off protest in their tiny mid-Ohio town and got a surprising number of people to show up. "Surprising" only because the town is so tiny.
I'm all for a good protest but people need to be *very* clear exactly what they're protesting and what message they're trying to send.
