What I don't like is a protest where the message isn't coming across. Like I said, a sign reading simply "hands off" could mean so many things. Once it meant abortion rights. Right now in this particular town where I work, there's a couple projects going on that have residents divided..."hands off" could've applied to that issue as well. *I* knew what the signs meant but based on the number of bewildered customers in the store that day, many others did not. Though one could argue those weren't the people the protestors were trying to reach...
Also, while I didn't get a chance to talk to any of these specific protestors, I could tell by body language and the general energy being given off that this was less a demonstration of passion and displeasure with certain events taking place in the country right now and more something to alleviate the boredom between lunch out with friends and pre-dinner drinks. I saw footage of plenty of other protests around the country that were much more convincing.
