and I don’t think it mattered that I had never read David Copperfield, in case anyone is wondering whether they need to read one before the other. I’ve read enough Charles Dickens to know that he knew how to write about poverty.
No, it didn’t matter, in the way that not knowing Sons of Anarchy is based on Hamlet wouldn’t really affect a viewer’s experience of that show. But it does potentially add another level of understanding for some readers.
I’ve read most of Kingsolver’s books. My favorites are The Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer, but I too really enjoyed Demon Copperhead and The Lacuna. I still need to read Flight Behavior and Unsheltered.
Those are all on my list of books to read. I’ll read anything she’s written. I’ll likely read Prodigal Summer soon since I have a copy.
One reviewer compared Flight Behavior to Prodigal Summer, so I’m particularly looking forward to that one. I love having authors I can return to again and again when nothing else is appealing at the moment.
