“Tuesday” is Croatian writer-director Daina Oniunas-Pusić ‘s first feature film. I loved it. I cried while watching it. It was very touching, more than depressing. I just felt the characters’ emotions so much. The in-a-nutshell blurb: “A mother and her daughter must confront Death when it arrives in the form of an astonishing talking bird.“. Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as the mother of a terminally ill teenage girl. It’s in English if that matters to you.
“Civil War” is British writer-director Alex Garland’s film set during a civil war in the US in the very near future. The nutshell blurb on this one: “In a dystopian future America, a team of military-embedded journalists races against time to reach Washington, D.C., before rebel factions descend upon the White House.” It stars Kirsten Dunst and is more about the job and ethics of war photojournalism than about American politics. It does feel eerily close to where we are as a country but the film does not take a side. It is just showing what is happening like good photojournalists do.
Both of these films are very good. I recommend both of them.
