Eddie needs to go get his son. It has been months now. It was good to give him some time but they need to heal the relationship. Maybe family therapy?
As for what Buck discovers, that's a good question. I'm a little bit nervous for it...not because I don't think they can't get past it. I think they can. But because I've read some of the obstacles they threw in the way of Tarlos on Lone Star and they're really dumb in a way that tarnishes the overall relationship for a fan even if they get past it (which Tarlos did.)
I don't think they're going to do that after I read some of the interviews after the episode. I remember the head writer talking about Buck not having as much time for Eddie now that he's in a relationship in some preview articles but I think he really doesn't want to write anything that feeds into the notion that this a triangle. At most, I could see Eddie asking Buck to hang out and Buck telling him that he and Tommy have a date. Normally, that wouldn't be a big deal but since Chris is still in TX, Eddie has to figure out what to do with himself without his best friend or job to distract him.
I don't know. Perhaps I'm so entrenched in how TV has always worked that I am almost too confident it'll never happen no matter how loud their fan base is even if Buck and Tommy break up. I still think a break up will only happen if they go on so long they run out of ideas for Tommy or LFJ gets another gig.
Is Buddie fandom any bigger or more special than the people who shipped House and Wilson? Any of the same sex combos on Supernatural? Sherlock and Watson from the BBC production?
The only big difference is that one of the characters, Buck, is now canonically bi but I still think it'd be unlikely for the show to do a similar realizations/coming arc for both of their 30-something male leads who have been presented to the audience as straight for over 5 years.
People think that it's just like any other ship but I don't think that's the case. IMO, shipping two presumably "straight" dudes is such a niche online fandom thing that would never occur to most people watching the show who were probably thrown by biBuck even though there were always hints.
