of concerns over being in the same space with a bunch of strangers or do they prefer the autonomy of having their own car?
On only a partially related note, I have a love/hate relationship with carpooling. On the one hand, I love that it helps the environment, and I enjoy not having the responsibility of driving every day. OTOH, I like having my own car and only myself to accommodate. If I want to stop for groceries on the way home, I can. Also, one of the few times I was late to work in 30+ years at the bindery, it was because the woman I was picking up wasn't ready when I got there...and then I got stuck in some snow at the end of her driveway that she hadn't shoveled. She was very apologetic but I was still annoyed.
