There were a lot of articles back in the day that the Kirkland brands were top brands leftovers that did not meet the name brand's quality control, but was still very good quality.

Since then, I think people realized that store brands aren't manufactured by the store but that they put their name on items that may have been manufactured by the name brand's factories.
