definitely look bad (and by "insignificant", I mean "for personal gains, not something benefitting the world"). The goal is only $10,000, which definitely seems like something AM can afford. But...should she foot the bill just because she's a celebrity with money? It would be kind of her to do so, yes, but it's her money, to do with as she pleases, so I can't totally fault her.
What the team SHOULD have done is have another player's mommy or daddy set up the fund. Then AM could've contributed some amount to it (while assuring everyone she'll pay for her son's expenses) and maybe suggest to her fans that they could contribute a little as well, if they wanted to.
