It didn't start off that way...I had to be up a bit early to make a couple appetizers for the holiday gathering at my bff's sister's house, and then I realized I didn't have enough of two of the ingredients and had to make an emergency run to Discount Drug Mart for sour cream and more shredded cheese. But it was worth it. There were seven of us yesterday--bff, her sister, her BIL, her niece, two mutual friends ("B and B", with whom I'm also friends) and myself. We had appetizers at 1:00, dinner at 2:00 (lasagna and salad, plus some meatballs and sausage to go with the pasta), and dessert at 3:00. At 3:30, I was so stuffed, I was worried I might throw up all over bff's sister's beautiful tablecloth. But I didn't...afterwards, we retired to the living room to hang out with bff's sister's two cats, and I was thrilled that Milo--usually the shy one--let me share a seat with him and let me pet him while he snuggled up next to my leg and fell asleep. Meanwhile, the husband half of B and B practically put Milo's brother Otis in a trance with all the petting. There was a lot of really good, lively conversation and a LOT of laughing. We also watched both "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and the criminally underrated Christmas special "How Murray Saved Christmas", and bff and I exchanged gifts. We both really hit the mark with our gifts for each other this year 😊 Normally I don't like a get together to go much longer than 3 hours (I either get bored or my introverted nature kicks in) but I was at bff's sis' house for over 9 hours and was happy to be there the entire time. Granted, the last 30 minutes was spent boxing up leftovers...there was enough food to feed 70 people, not just 7, and I came home with FOUR boxes of leftovers, plus the stuff I already had in the fridge (the traditional Christmas Eve pizza, the d@mn holiday potatoes, etc.). I might not need to grocery shop until February <g>.
