And I literally heard this on Pod Save the World today said with full sincerity -- that part of Canada's problem is how incredibly jealous Trump is that Justin Trudeau is considered to be very attractive.
That said, I think it is equally true that Trump wants to gain territory during this presidency. He's not a funny guy. This Governor Trudeau/51st State thing feels incredibly hostile to us, and it's why we are so angry and booing the national anthem. When Trump repeats this stuff over and over again, he is, on some level, serious. So I absolutely think Trudeau was right to say that Trump is trying to crush our economy in order to annex us.
That said, I think he's bitten of way more than he can chew. I've seen so many Americans this week say that the Idaho guard could take us, but the last two decades have proven repeatedly that the US can't hold an unwilling population and we are very much unwilling. This is why Trudeau then said 'that is never going to happen' -- because it ISN'T. But 100% Trump is harbouring dreams of adding to the US's territory and we are one of the options he's considering.
