It was early evening and dark. I was in a car on my way home from a screening of Wicked. To my east, very low in the sky, I saw what I thought was a plane heading west. I remember thinking: If that’s a plane, where is it planning on landing? It’s past JfK, nowhere near LGA and if it’s heading to Newark, it’s too low now. All I could see were it’s lights. By the lights, it looked like a plane but way too low for where it was. Then I got distracted by something and forgot about it. Later, when I heard about all the drone sightings, I thought that was probably what I saw.

These things are bigger than most hobbyist drones — around 6 feet in circumference. My best guess is that they are some kind of research/test runs, either military or commercial. It’s hard to believe that no government agency knows what they are. So, apparently, whoever does know, isn’t saying what they are. The government has to know what they are to be able to consider them no danger.

Having lived through 9/11 in NYC with the following high security on the Verrazano Narrows bridge, I do understand why people are wondering what’s going on when they see — or think they see — drones flying in the area. One Coast Guard boat claims it was followed by a pack of 12 drones.

If the drones start dropping packages, we’ll know they are Amazon’s, LOL. Drones were used to search Central Park for evidence after the UHC CEO shooting. Drones are used to search for people missing in the ocean. Maybe the latest mysterious drone sightings are being tested for some new task.
