When Laura and Alexis talked--she told Laura that because Nik was in prison and Spencer was "dead" Ace is now the heir. Laura said that the Cassadine fortune was nothing but trouble for Nikolas and Spencer and she didn't want to put Ace through that so she told Alexis to just give it all away. Alexis said she could not. That it would be Ace's decision once he turns 18.
So you mean to tell me--that the head of the estate has the autonomy to give away the entire fortune, but the Cassadine relatives had grounds to challenge Ava's divorce settlement because Nikolas wasn't authorized to pay her from fortune that he controlled? 🤨
