Happy Holidays! Your gift is an actual recap of One Life to Live. Yes, someone cares enough to show some love to this deserving show at the ChristKwanziKah Yuletide. Unfortunately, this recap will not include the first 5 minutes of the show as the Grinch-Boss didn't let me out in time to see them. Anyhoo...
Natalie, whose problems we all wish upon ourselves - 2 pretty boys hungering for her, lots of money, oodles of spare time, etc. ad nauseum - was (gasp!) feeling sorry for herself. She was remembering a Xmas past with Cristian and decided that she should invite him over to break his heart up into itty bitty pieces and demand her "freedom." Cristian comes over and tries to explain why he won't divorce her and ends up taking advantage of a conveniently placed sprig of mistletoe to wish her a Merry Christmas. If this is bondage, well, I wonder what the dictionary definition of freedom is... Either way - she's crying, John McBain is spying, and no one is sighing contented sighs of love.
Poor Johnny had just got the shock of his life when Bo told him he was requiring John to see a shrink as a condition of his employment at LPD. He thought Bo was "on his side." Bo is pretty sure John will thank him for this one day. Maybe so, but not today.
Jessica and Antonio explained the Jess/Tess condition to Cristian and Jessica admitted that the blackouts began around the time she witnessed Tico's death. She swore it wasn't Cristian's fault and told him she didn't hold him responsible. Antonio, however, holds Tess responsible for everything wrong in the world and is pressuring Jessica to abandon Nash and any involvement Nash may have in the baby's future. Jessica insists that she is only worried about Nash because she knows he will come back to Tess and she doesn't want to be surprised by him. Tess, meanwhile, is screaming at Jessica to let her out as she knows something has happened to Nash.
Tess is right, of course, and poor Nash is in the hospital trying not to lose his temper with nurses and cops who swear they are looking out for him. Nash looks terrible. This is a credit to the actor (sorry, I don't know his name) who isn't too vain to allow his character to actually look like he just got beat to a pulp. Once he convinces the nurse to let him make a call, the cop takes his phone and tells him to spill his guts about who hurt him. Nash isn't talking. He tells the cop that the guy got what he wanted and that he, Nash, deserved it anyway. The cop warns Nash that he will find out what happened eventually and finally leaves. Nash tries again to make his call so that Tess won't think he deserted her at Xmas.
Speaking of bad boys, Todd tries to convince Evangeline that the fact that Margaret lied about her swimming abilities proves he's innocent. She says that it only proves that Margaret was a liar. They need to find another suspect to clear Todd. She gives him a copy of Nelson Mandela's autobiography for Christmas and he asks if this means he'll be in jail for 26 years.
On the other side of town, Blair and the real killer are partying together at the community center holiday bash. Asa (a rather curmudgeonly Santa) congratulates Blair on the Craze article about Todd and Blair loses it. Truman steps up to defend her which only exacerbates Asa's argument. Truman tells Asa that no one is buying into his caricature of a tough as nails cowboy. Asa lets Truman know that Truman's own slime trail isn't hidden by the choir robes. Asa still plans to cut him down to bite-size.
Truman tries to cheer himself by bullying Paige once more, but she isn't in the mood. Paige lets him know that his secret on her isn't the only secret she has. She tells him she's got another one, a big one, and it's all about him. To ruin dear Truman's holiday even further, Blair finally remembers that she is married and arranges for Todd to see his kids at Christmas.
