One Life to Live Update for Wednesday, 21-Sep-2005

Duke has just found out (from Ginger who wants to take him from Adriana) that Adriana kissed Rex. She’s, at least not lying. He comes by to see her in the morning and asks why. She tells him that since he did not see it and doesn’t even know if it happened in the first place, he’s showing her he does not trust him. So why should she get down on her knees and beg for his forgiveness. He tells her she looks like she’s turning into her mother. She tells him that he’s a fine one to be judging her and being so possessive of her when he never has any time for her. He wants her to wait around for him and be a sweet innocent little thing without having any personality or backbone until he gets the next call on his cell phone. The only reason he’s there and professing to care about her is because “somebody took his woman.”

Right after John and Natalie have spent the night together, he tells her it’s not going to work. He tells her that he knows he cannot express his feelings. She tells him that she knows Evangeline needed for him to express his feelings. But she only needs to look in his eyes, be with him and make love. And that’s all she needs in order to know.

Layla comes to talk to Rex. He asks her what is going on in her life. She then asks him how well he knows John McBain. He asks her if she’s on some “fact-finding” mission for her sister. She tells him it’s not for that reason that she wants info about John. They both agree that they have the same questions about what their respective sisters see in John. And right then, John and Natalie walk in.

Cristian gets a surprise visit from Evangeline. He wonders why she is there. She tells him that she wants him to spare her the: “you got the wrong guy” routine. He tells her that she must “want” him to be Christian Vega. But he is not. So she is wasting her time. She tells him she has irrefutable evidence from a DNA report. She has two samples. They both match and they are both him. And she tells him that John McBain knows the truth also. She tells him she’d like to hear it from the horse’s mouth. So she urges him to come clean and tells her what his name is. He tells her his name is Cristian Vega. Knowing he’s told her the truth, she asks him what the deal is. He asks her if John told her. She says no. She found them on her own. He admits it was a shock to him also. He had no memory of anything. And he did not find out until it was too late. He confirms to her that he asked John to keep quiet about it and keep Natalie safe. He admits that he made a big mistake encouraging John to “look out” for Natalie and enable her to get on with her life. And he regrets it now. He cannot bear the thought of that dude sleeping with his wife. She asks, why, then, he doesn’t do something about it. He asks her what good it would do to tell Natalie the truth when he’s stuck in there. Then she’d be miserable for the rest of her life waiting for a man who’s serving a life sentence. She tells him that since he was brainwashed to kill Tico, there are ways the murder case could be reopened and he could be acquitted. She asks him if he is really serious about getting his wife back. She tells him she’d be willing to represent him.
