Will shows up at Nora's house, and Nora wants him to help her 'make things right' with Lindsey. Will is obviously suspicious of Nora's motivations and insists that he will not spy or dig up dirt on his own mother. Nora says she suspects that Lindsey is pregnant, which brings Will to a screeching halt. Nora tries to convince Will that the only thing she wants is what is best for Bo, but I wasn't quite buying it and neither was Will. Just in the nick of time the nanny and Matthew arrive home. Will cuddles the baby and they sit down to talk. The baby seems perfectly comfortable with him, but not especially thrilled to be there. I guess that's about what you hope for when working with babies! They can't all be as perfect and well-bonded to their co-stars as is the babe who plays Colby on AMC. Will wants to know how Nora will feel if the existence of a new baby brings Bo and Lindsey closer together, but she continues to insist that her primary desire is to do right by Bo. Finally, Will refuses to help Nora. He believes that it is Lindsey's business when to tell and what to tell, and nothing Nora says will change his mind.
In the waiting room of her doctor's office (why do all the doctors in Llanview have their private practices in the hospital?) Lindsay and Sam talk about her not-yet-bulging belly. If she's so insistent that Bo not know about the baby then surely she will have to leave town at some point. Finally she admitted that she did want him to know, she just didn't want to tell him. She reminds Sam that they married because she was pregnant, and she spent 14 years married to a man who was in love with someone else - an experience she is not eager to repeat. Lindsay wants Bo to choose her, not just choose her by default because of the baby. After her appointment, Lindsay is alone when she is told that she and the baby are just fine. She doesn't look fine though. I want Bo and Nora to be together, but I have to admit that I feel for Lindsay - I understand what she is doing and why.
There was a lot of Max/Bo-type stuff today but really there was not much of substance. Asa coded and they had to zap him back to life, and Renee had to give the OK for bypass surgery. Larry is trying to stabilize Asa enough so that the surgery can be done. Ben did a lot of lurking around, watching and listening to what was going on with Asa, watching Max play the part of the long lost son. I've never much cared for Ben but have to admit he does a mighty fine job of looking like he's just been flattened, Wile E Coyote-style, and only partially reinflated.
Vikki continued her meltdown today. It started with the continuation of her interaction with Ben from yesterday. She did not admit that she has breast cancer, but told him that she needs him terribly and all but begged him to come be her rock. He melted some as well, but finally told her that he couldn't be anything to her as long as he didn't know who he was himself. She misunderstood of course - why would anyone think he meant that he's the son of a man he hates, after all?
I'm having a little bit of trouble with how they are handling this breast cancer thing. Today a nurse told Vikki that her biopsy had been sent for a second opinion. Second opinion? When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, he palpated the lump and said he could tell by the feel that it was cancer, but of course did a biopsy to confirm. When the biopsy results came back they scheduled the mastectomy. None of this piddling around like Vikki's doctor yesterday saying that there was no need to rush into the next step. No need to rush? Hellooooo breast cancer metastasizes into the lymph nodes which can then send cancer to the four corners of the body. YES there is a rush. I hope that this second opinion thing is being used as an excuse to back out of the breast cancer diagnosis. I followed Monica on GH through her breast cancer, and I followed my mother through hers in real life. I don't want to see Vikki go through it too. I don't have much understanding for the way that Vikki is handling this. Meltdown? YES but meltdown in private and meanwhile take care of business. Viewers have been told for years how strong Vikki is. Lets see her handle something with that strength. Usually when we see her being strong she's really just being a hardheaded bully.
Hey, where'd that soapbox come from?? And where were we anyway?
There was a bit of Kevin and Kelly, after yesterday with Kevin sobbing in Kelly's arms, now he seems to feel that Joey cannot handle Vikki's illness, so Kevin soundly rejected Kelly and sent her running back to Joey. Kelly wanted the two of them to go away somewhere and figure out how they were really feeling, an idea which Kevin clearly found ridiculous. Of course no one in the family yet knows about Vikki's diagnosis, so Kelly was more clueless and selfish than heartless and selfish. I don't mind though, I've always loved Kelly.
The show ends with Sam and Bo both insisting that Ben tell them exactly what happened in the tack room, so Ben says, 'ok I'll tell you!'
Next on One Life to Live:
- Lindsay wants to know why Will is fussing over her.
- Nora asks Vikki how is her friend who feared she had breast cancer.
- Sophia asks Kelly why is she wearing Joey's ring when what she really wants is to be schromping Kevin??
