General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 20-Dec-2011

It may be the Christmas season on General Hospital ,but today's episode was sad. Michael is mourning the death of his dear, sweet Abby. She died in a freak accident, and ,at first, Michael blames himself. Sam is there to comfort him as he prepares to take Abby's body home to bury. Abby's own mother didn't want to help with the funeral at all. Can you believe this? Sam ,too, is feeling sooooooo despondent. She has finally opened up and shared the devastating rape with Michael. Jason is standing behind their hotel door listening. Sam says : " I haven't said too much to Jason because he's sooooo angry." Me hopes that the new Psychiatrist Ewan can help some of these grieving people. I know this is just acting,but Michael and Sam brought tears to my eyes. What an emotional scene between two hurting people!.Elizabeth is also hurting as Lucky tries to tell her once again that they are over. Maxie comes in and upsets Liz by saying that Liz was faking a breakdown . Every time she is faced with some emotional" whatever", Lucky comes back. Perhaps, Liz needs to chat with the doc at Shady Brook. The artist she talked to is really Ewan, the shrink at the psychiatric hospital. He thinks she checked out too soon. She doesn't know that he was the doctor who was there to help her.She thought that he was a patient too.Ewan seems very familiar to Liz.
Matt is in a funky,sarcastic mood today. He is not dealing well with a failed experiment or Maxie.HE is rude to Shawn and Carly.
Dogs are therapeutic for some who are having mental problems. Shawn and Bernie walked into gunfire in Sonny's office. Apparently, some mafia was gunning for Jason. Bernie is shot and Shawn suffers PTSD again. Perhaps Carla is pushing him too hard to seek help at the hospital, but.. Ewan happens to overhear her concern with Shawn's problem so he sends in a service dog. The service dog helps shake Shawn out of his distress. It was actually great to hear Carly laugh a little as she observed Shawn with this lovable dog. ;-)
Kate,as one knows, decorated Sonny's old home in Bensonhurst for Christmas. She wanted to surprise him with the Christmas he had never had there.He was thrilled!She even gave him a trumpet as a gift. His trying to blow it was funny. Thanks for the humor,Sonny. After making some love to Kate, they had to return to Port Charles due to the shooting. Miss Kate did not look too happy.
Those words of a grieving Michael still linger in my mind: Michael says:" I think I know how Abby would have said goodbye." This fan will miss Abby.
