General Hospital Update for Wednesday, 23-Dec-2009

Ok, so I must be a GH geek of the worst kind since today I found myself (more than once) welling up with tears. Maybe it’s the holidays, maybe I’m just a sap, but man, General Hospital was pulling on my heartstrings today.
*Alexis began the day by sharing Christmas Eve with Diane, Max and her three daughters. Unbeknownst to her, Molly, Kristina and Sam had arranged for Mac to drop by. Mac arrives with gift in hand. An appreciative albeit surprised Alexis opens the gift to find a car window scraper. Perhaps next year Mac may want to turn up the romance factor and get her a vacuum or a perhaps a belt sander.
*Lucky and Elizabeth prepare for a Spencer family Christmas. All are present including Dante, who had a funny scene where he tries to charm an icy Tracy. Luke is MIA, having decided he would rather spend the day alone. Lucky decides to visit the Haunted Star to try and convince his dad to join in with the holiday festivities. Now this was the first of many scenes that made me reach for my tissues. The chemistry between Jonathan Jackson and Tony Geary is crazy and their walk down memory lane was over way too quickly for this viewer. I’m lucky enough to have a wonderful relationship with my father, but Lucky’s love/pain/admiration/disillusionment over his own father was palpable. If you didn’t catch this scene I would definitely advise searching utube. I’m sure it will be there.
Lucky finally convinces his dad to come home for the holidays and the Spencers top the tree with Laura’s angel.
*Robin and Patrick settle in to have a nice romantic Christmas at home. The door bell rings and the party is crashed by Matt and Lisa.
*Maxi goes overboard decorating her apartment for Christmas. Spinelli wants nothing of her “Yuletide festivities inspired by guilt”. Tissue number two. Maxi and Spinelli hash out her transgression with Franco, when Mac arrives to drop off his Christmas present. Mac immediately assumes that Spinelli has done some horrible wrong to Maxi and quickly jumps to her defense. Maxi calms a protective Mac and sends him on his way. Spinelli wrestles with the burden of loving a flawed woman. Although cut to the core by Maxi’s affair, he ultimately urges her to put it all aside for the time being and enjoy the holidays together.
*Carly identifies Morgan as the weakest link and cleverly manipulates him into telling her where Jax had hidden her Christmas gift. Jax, anticipating the breech, had pad locked the door to the attic. Carly decides to try and access his hiding spot through an air vent on the roof ….next to the solar panels?? If the Jax family were so worried about energy conservation, wouldn’t an open-air vent in the roof letting out all of the heat in the house be counterproductive to the eco-friendly solar power production? Maybe that’s just me. Anywhoo, it would appear that crawling around on a snow filled roof in 3-inch heels is dangerous, who knew. Carly comes crashing down, with Christmas decorations in tow. Amazingly, some well-placed shrubs were enough to break the fall. Carly’s shenanigans are rewarded when Jax presents her with a portrait of Josslyn and the boys for Christmas.
Well I hope you enjoyed the update. I have immensely enjoyed sharing my thoughts with you over the last few months. A nasty scheduling conflict is currently messing with my coveted GH time, however I will do my best to continue to bring you Wednesday updates in the New Year. Until then, I would love to hear your feedback and thoughts on all things General Hospital. Feel free to follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/lorisimmons920.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
