Now since I follow Nancy Lee Grahn on twitter, I knew in advance that today was going to be the “karaoke” episode. In her wonderful manner of self-deprecating humour, she warned us all of her musical escapades at Jake’s. Now I have only sung Karaoke once, and I have to say that I had much liquid courage under my belt. Having said that, I was still scared silly as I belted out a Shania Twain favorite (yes, I must have been pretty drunk!). Thankfully, I don’t think anyone else at the bar was paying attention. I cannot imagine the nerves that would accompany having to stand up in front of your fellow co-workers, sober as a judge, in a silent sound stage, with every one watching. Not to mention that the incident would be recorded for all posterity by ABC (not to mention a few youtube hits).

For better or for worse, General Hospital has not followed some other soaps who tend to keep veteran actor on the daily canvass even though they are neither young nor restless. John York is a talented actor who, in recent years, has been relegated to essentially wallpaper in the background. It’s was great to see the “powers that be” finally provide him with a story line that does not involve fruitlessly chasing Jason around Port Charles. His duet with NLG was thoroughly entertaining, and provided some mid-week comic relief, which I for one desperately needed. Thank you “big Mac” and his “quarter pounder with cheese”! Oh and by the way, that ‘nose plug’ move by Alexis was the cherry on top!

Ok, so onto today’s episode!

*Dante confronts Sonny over his motives for sending Johnny on what he believes to be a suicide mission. Sonny admits his attraction for Olivia, but insists he will not have Johnny killed to clear the way.

*Maxie finds Spinelli in possession of the envelope from Franco. In a desperate attempt to keep her infidelity a secret, Maxie talks circles around Spinelli and then resorts to sexual distractions.

*Jason attends Franco’s art show and tries to piece the puzzle together. Jason finds that Franco has left him a gift. Jason brings the art piece home but without a degree in Fine Arts from PCU, Jason is unable to find any significance in the painting.

*Carly walks into the Kelly’s and witnesses Kreepy Keifer and Kristina arguing. Carly’s intuition tell her that something is very wrong and proceeds to Sonny’s to warn him against abandoning his daughter.

*Dante learns from Ronnie that the incriminating tape was not as incriminating as he might have hoped. There would be no arrest warrant issued today. Dante fumes over the DA’s lack of action, but later at Jake’s, he admits to Lulu that part of him was relieved that Sonny is still a free man.

*Olivia tells Johnny that she kissed Sonny. Great for her, she somehow manages to use this to her advantage and Jolivia is back on!

*Also back on are Max and Diane. Diane seals the deal with a turn at the mic.

*Luke and Ethan wrap up the musical entertainment by belting out a duet. The highlight of this is a very drunk Tracy playing back up dancer to the performance. Priceless!

GH has begun to regularly end episodes with video montages set to music. When this first started, I truly felt that it would get old and feel more like time filler than anything else. But, I was wrong. I have say that so far, I really like it.

Well that’s it for me for this week. See you next Wednesday!
