General Hospital Update for Monday, 2-Nov-2009

When I was all excited over GH last week, my husband asked me, “how can you watch that show day after day?”. In the current climate where no daytime show seems safe, that question got me thinking. The reality is that I’ve “known” most of those fictional characters longer than anyone else in my life. Most certainly longer than I’ve known my husband. Through all the years and all the changes, the one constant in my life has been Port Charles. Fellow GH lover, Tamilu recently made a comment on the “Floating rib”. This got me nostalgic for the “Bucket of Blood”, the “Asian quarter”, the “Tiffany and Robert” era, and the endless “capers” that was GH in the ‘80’s.
The mob based GH of today is a far cry from 20 years ago, but I still watch, riveted to my seat day in and day out. It’s weeks like this last one, that remind me why GH is my favorite guilty pleasure!
*Dante continues to walk the fine line of being undercover. In an effort to save Carly from Claudia, Dante goes to Ronnie to call in some favours and track the fugitives. Ronnie refuses to help and tells Dante that he should be taking advantage of Sonny’s distracted state to search out more evidence against him. Dante, clearly disgusted with Ronnie, strikes out on his own to do what he can to save Carly.
*Mac takes Jason into custody, again. I’m not sure who advises GH on their legal story lines, but, oy vey! Poor Mac is made to play the keystone cop again, as he does what seems to be his only legal maneuver, arrest Jason. Perhaps if Mac ever consulted the New York Penal Code, he would have better chosen a charge for which to arrest Jason. I’m sure there is something in there for simply carrying a concealed weapon, or for pointing a firearm in a public place. Either one of those would have stuck much better than “assault with a deadly weapon”. I had to laugh out loud when Alexis alluded to the fact that without witnessing the crime, Mac had no grounds for arrest. Yeah, like the Police Commissioner has to witness any and all crimes for charges to be brought.
*Sam and Johnny visit the interrogation room. Johnny offers to help free Jason. In return Jason has to agree to let Johnny help Claudia. Jason responds ‘no dice’ and Johnny heads off to find his sister before Jason can. It’s astonishing to me how anyone and everyone has access to the police station. It just seems like people are always running in and out, no signing in, no police escort, no restricted areas, just come on in and make yourself at home!
*While in custody, Lucky and Jason share a rare moment on the same side of the fence. Lucky agrees to help Jason escape but is called out of the interrogation room by Mac before he can slip Jason the hand cuff key. You would think that since “take Morgan into custody” are words heard nearly every time Jason leaves the house, that maybe he would hide a hand cuff key of his own inside his shoe or something for the next time. Anywhoo, Alexis gets Jason out and he heads off to save the day.
*Lulu, Dominic and Johnny head out to the Zacharra mansion looking for Claudia and Carly. Lulu falls into some sort of well, or moat, or something. All very strange.
*Carly crawls out of the car and into a raging storm to escape an unconscious Claudia. Carly comes upon a cabin in the woods. Now if it was me, I would probably have first checked to see if the lights worked or if maybe there was a phone…but I digress. Carly gets to work on a fire and sets up on the sofa to deliver her baby solo. Carly is found by a very wet and very mad Claudia.
Hope you enjoyed the update.
Until next time
