And it's New Year's Eve in Port Charles! Today's story lines centered on two couples who are committed to each other and two who are finding their ways back to each other--and one duo who is starting to realize that yes, they could easily be a couple in 2009.
Let's start with the couples who are enjoying their commitment. Johnny and Lulu start things off by getting ready to celebrate New Year's Eve on the town, but Lulu is worried about blowing the rent money on a night of partying. Johnny tells her not to worry about it, since he still has the money that Jacks refunded him for the deposit on the Penthouse and he's been able to save his salary from the Christmas Tree lot.
Even so, she's able to talk him into staying in, and they are having a great time seeing the New Year in with pizza and beer. They even go outside to play in the snow! Sweet....
The next couple to enjoy each other? Nadine and Nick. They are also staying in, and are having a sit-down dinner by candlelight--fully dressed for dinner, of course. One thing leads to another, and Nadine agrees to stay the night--and even shows Nick that she's planned ahead, because she brought her toothbrush in her purse! This pair sees 2009 in in bed....
Couples making their way back to each other? Let's start with Carly and Jacks. There's a huge power outage in the Metrocourt's side of town and New Year's Eve plans there have had to be cancelled as a result.
Carly climbs 25 flights of stairs to the restaurant (the elevators aren't working) and runs into Jacks! Carly tells him she's just come for tiaramisu--and Jacks says that he's there to think about the trainwreck that 2008 was; adding that the Prime Rib that was being saved for the party was donated to the local homeless shelter.
Jacks and Carly talk and it's very clear that there's still something smoldering. They see the New Year in with a kiss, which was nice to see.
The other couple that lost their way? Luke and Tracy. Tracy meets Luke on the Haunted Star and finds out that the big New Year's Eve party there only has one invited guest: her.
Tracy is not happy, as she tells Luke in no uncertain terms; yelling at him for blowing the biggest party night of the year.
They decide to gamble--if the golden ball dropped on the number 21, representing Laura's birthday, Luke would give Tracy her divorce and leave the country. If it dropped on the 6, Tracy's birthday, they would agree to get back together. Guess what, it dropped on the 6, and Tracy surprises herself by kissing Luke passionately!
The couple who is starting to think they could be a couple? Maxie and Spinelli. Spinelli has responded to Maxie's latest 911 call at the Crimson headquarters. She's written her first article for the magazine, but hasn't saved it--and since there's now a huge power outage, fears that her computer could have lost it.
Spinelli gets a generator from Jason's house, but can't find the article, so Maxie will have to write it again. He is very sweet to her, telling her that even Shakespeare had to write Romeo and Juliet over.
They see the New Year in on the Crimson balcony. Very sweet!
And with that, Happy New Year!
