Wedding bells are ringing in Port Charles today, as Sonny and Kate prepare to walk down the aisle--with a potentially tragic ending. As all eyes in Port Charles are turned towards the happy couple, the only other item of note to report is that Nadine got caught in a rather sticky wicket--but Nicholas bailed her out just in time!
And speaking of plucky Nurse Nadine, she wound up on Andrei Karpov's ship, looking for counterfit drugs--but was caught by the shi's crew.
As Sasha the attorney debated whether to kill her or not, Nadine was smart enough to call Nicholas on her cell phone and have him listen in to the conversation. As the boom was being dropped, Nick came on the scene just in time and rescued Nadine at gunpoint--yelling in Russian to boot! You go, Nicholas.
Now for the big story: Sonny and Carly's wedding. As the day starts, Maxine runs into Olivia at Kate's house--wearing the Maid of Honor dress that Maxie thought she was going to be wearing--because she is going to be the Maid of Honor!
After Olivia explains the connection, Maxie rushes to Spinelli, who does a full computer trace on Kate, revealing Kate's past as Connie Falconeri from Bensonhurst.
Now that the secret is finally out, Maxie is aghast, but Spinelli gently convinces her that Kate is still the same person, even though she was born with a different name.
Meanwhile, more trouble is brewing--as both Carly AND Claudia have wrangled invitations! As Alexis says when Diane warns her: "It's like a hurricane AND a tornado hitting!"
Once we get to the church, we see that it looks perfect--but Kate is shocked to get red roses, courtesy of Andrei Karpov. She tears up the card and sends the flowers to GH.
It gets worse. Olivia goes to see Kate in her dressing room, and things are going well--until she brings out their grandmother's necklace, which all Falconeri brides have worn.
Kate has different plans, however. She tells Olivia that she's not wearing the necklace, because it doesn't go with her dress, leading to a huge knock-down, drag out fight between the cousins, which everyone in the church can hear! Olivia ends it by saying that she'll wear the necklace herself, and she won't leave, because she's never welshed on a job in her life.
The big moment finally arrives, as Kate walks down the aisle, to the strains of Ave Maria. It's a perfect moment, arranged by a leading fashion diva.
Looking like a vision, Kate is united with Sonny at the altar. They join hands--and shots ring out......
