General Hospital Update for Friday, 18-Jul-2008

What's a Friday without a cliffhanger? And was there a doozy today or what? Let's see what else happened: Patrick and Noah defended Anna's honor, Carly's latest scheme against Kate backfired in a big way, a new mobster is in Port Charles and is making overtures to Sonny and Maxie wound up spilling her guts to Jason re Logan's murder. Is that enough for you?
We start off with Anna, who's just been humiliated in public (somewhat) by Eli Love. As you might remember, everyone was at Jake's, when Eli was asked a question by the media about his girlfriend--and no, he wasn't referring to Anna! He said something about how his ladyfriend was flying in from a swimsuit photoshoot--all this in front of the lovely Ms. Devane, who had just told him about her impending grandmotherhood.
Anna tried to act like it didn't hurt in front of Robin and Patrick, but wasn't very convincing. Patrick promptly popped him one in the kisser!
On to GH, where it turns out that Eli's now got a broken jaw, which means he can't sing, which means he can't go on tour--which means that Patrick could be on the hook for a whole lot of cash.
Anna approaches Noah and asks him to channel his inner Eli, ala last summer. Noah gently tells her no, explaining that his Eli bout last summer almost cost him his sobriety, when all of a sudden Eli turns up with his business manager.
Eli brushes off the incident, saying that's what you always say to the media, when NOAH pops him one!! Whoa...
On to Carly and her current trainwreck of a life. She invites Claudia to lunch and floats a deal to her: to buy out Jax's shares of Crimson magazine so he will never have to be around Kate.
Things go from bad to worse when Jax walks in on the conversation and tells Claudia, sorry, his shares aren't for sale. He also tells Carly to keep her nose out of his business life or else he's out of their marriage. About darn time!!
Jax promptly fills Kate in on what happened and she starts jumping to conclusions, assuming that Claudia's going to buy in. SHE tells Jax that SHE will take him to court if that happens!
Now Kate has had enough and decides to fight back. She has Clarice set up a meeting with an important client and tells her not to tell Jax-but when asked say that she gave the message to Carly and she didn't relay it to him. Double whoa...
On to the latest mob happenings in PC. Andrei Karpov, a notorious Russian mobster, has come to town and is looking for an associate. He approaches Sonny, who explains that he's retired and is a simple coffee exporter, but takes the meeting anyway, Max in tow as his bodyguard.
Claudia walks in on the meeting and sits at another table eavesdropping. She tells Sonny later that her family has had dealings with Karpov and he's bad news, but Sonny isn't listening. (That's happening alot to Claudia lately, lol)
Finally, the big story of the day: Logan's murder. Maxie is tired of covering up and goes over to Jason and Spinelli's to spill her guts and finger Lulu as the killer.
Jason leaves, and tells everyone he's going to fix it--but it might already be too late.
Lulu has shown up at the PCPD with a gun in her purse and is clearly on the verge of cracking, ala Laura. She goes to see Johnny in the interrogation room and tells him that she's got a gun in her purse because she thought that could make it better, but sees now that it could be a whole lot worse because of that.
Lucky walks into the room and Johnny makes a split-second decision, putting the gun at Lulu's head and telling people not move or she gets killed! And that, my friends, is a Friday cliffhanger...
