General Hospital Update for Friday, 13-Jun-2008

Today's episode went from one extreme to another. On one hand, everyone's tear ducts got a workout--and on the other hand, the claws were definately out!
Let's see: Sonny got his Father's Day gifts from Michael and Morgan (and if THAT didn't get the tears flowing, I don't know what will..), Robin and Patrick's scare with the baby was a false alarm, Spinelli got a makeover, courtesy of Jax, Claudia gets into cat fights all over town and Giselle and Kate launch their own cat fight (cougar division) at Crimson. Did I forget that Sam and Lucky get into a bar fight in Mexico? Anyway, here we go...
We start off with Sonny. Everyone knows what day Sunday is and Max decides to help his former boss by taking him on a fishing trip with the guys over the weekend.
Sonny tells him that it's not going to work, as whereever he is in the world, he's still going to be thinking about Michael and Morgan on that day--and how he can't be with them.
And here's where it started to get moist at my house. Jason comes over to Chez Corinthos with a huge box for Sonny. It's from Michael, who ordered it off the internet before his accident and had it delivered to Jason.
Sonny opens it, and is overcome to see that it's lifejackets (kinda ironic, right?), one for Sonny and one for Morgan. Jason gently tells Sonny that Michael wanted to teach Morgan how to steer the boat this summer.
And if that wasn't enough of a tearjerker, Carly comes in with Morgan's present to Sonny. It's a plaster cast of his handprint, but Sonny is too overcome to open it. He gives the lifejackets to Carly and tells her to give them to Jax and Morgan.
On to Patrick and Robin. Robin had collapsed in her apartment (thankfully Patrick found her) and was rushed to GH. Turns out it was a false alarm and the baby is just fine. And in the GH tradition of wild and wacky diagnoses, Robin has an "incompetant cervix!" Huh??? Chalk another one up to the writers!
Now for the highlight of the show: Spinelli's makeover, courtesy of Jax. Jax is giving Spinelli suave lessons, but one finishing touch is needed: he has his tailor make Spinelli a brand-new suit. And what an effect! It kinda reminded me of Leo DeCaprio in "Catch Me if You Can".
And naturally, Bradford Anderson had to put his own crazy touch on the final outcome--as after the makeover, Spinelli is now speaking in a British accent--which is freaking out everyone except rival magazine publisher Giselle.
And speaking of Giselle, she's come to Crimson headquarters to speak with Kate about doing a promo for Crimson in Couture's pages--but really, it's to start a catfight.
Kate calls Jax for damage control and it turns out they run into the new and improved Spinelli, who joins them on their gambling trip to the Haunted Star.
Moving on to other cat fights (Claudia vs the rest of the women of Port Charles), Claudia runs into Nicholas and Nurse Nadine at the new Emily Bowen Quartermaine Free Clinic.
Claudia hears Nadine ask Nick if he's sleeping with Claudia and tries to give her advice--doesn't go over so well...
Finally, Sam and Lucky and their most excellent adventure in Mexico. They are in a bar and pick up a coded message from Luke from the bartender. Things go from bad to worse when one of the women in the bar recognize Sam from her past life--and figures now's a great time for payback.
One thing leads to another and Sam winds up punching her rival, which leads to her arrest by Mexican police. Lucky questions the police and figures out that noone has rights there, so he winds up punching one of the cops so he can go with Sam! We'll have to wait till Monday to see how this one turns out...
