Today's episode climaxed a 3 day tribute to Anna Lee ( Lila Quartermaine). Ms. Lee died a while ago, and was dismissed from General Hospital for some unknown reason. Many fans such as I missed her dearly. This show was certainly emotional because it touched long- time fans as well as her family on GH. Sorrow, anger, quilt, and other emotions were riveting in these eulogies at Lila's Memorial. Why is it that people rally around the deceased but not the living? Tracy vented as much angry venom as she could on acquaintances of Lila's. In a sense, she chose the worst time possible time to vent her grief and anger, but she did make a point. Instead of thinking about seeing an elderly person, or telling her/him ,I love You,people wait. Well, As one sees it, Life's priorities do not often include visiting a fragile person as one ages. This is just a thought to think about.
When Lila died quietly in her sleep on Tuesday night on GH, she left a truly empty place in the hearts of these characters. Robin, an ex of Jason's, appeared as well as the sparkling, silly Lucy in red, Kevin, Lee, and others. Isn't it quite sad to know that it often takes someone's demise to bring the estranged together such as Lois, Ed's ex wife ,and his lovely teenage daughter Brooke?
Lila's death caused characters such as Alan, Tracy, Ned, Monica, Jason, Emily, Jax, and others to re-evaluate their lives. Jax says, for example, that he has never truly lived.. he's taken his life for granted. How sad but true!Tracy throws a real fit while others are remembering her mom.She thinks that they are simply mouthing insincere words. All chaos breaks out,and then, she apologizes to Alan. Alan tries to keep her from expressing her angry torment.Even the devious Carly said: " While I was married to AJ, Lila was the only one who treated me decently." In a sense, Lila Quartermaine touched the lives of almost every character on this soap.Perhaps, we all could learn as Emily said.. to take an extra moment to visit, to call, to say "I love You" to those who have been kind to us in spite of our ugliness. This was the necessary respect and tribute they, indeed ,paid to this lovely, unique matriarch. When Jason approached the dais to eulogize his dear grandmother, he could not do it. So EM took over. The flashbacks of Lila with "our Edward" who left the show were so touching.I am just a fan who misses a REAL LADY named Anna Lee( 1913- 2004). God bless her soul.
