General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 18-May-2004

Sorry, I forgot to tape it today and watched it live, cause school's out so I will have to go by memory here.

Jason brings Sam to the hospital to double check that her baby is okay. Courtney is there and none to happy to see Jason playing daddy. Jax and, later, Sonny show up to check on the baby, although both seem less than concerned about the mommy. Sam gets an ultrasound, and is pronounced fine, although she doesn't want to listen to the baby's heartbeat. She doesn't seem to mind telling everyone and their dog now that there are two potential fathers for the kid. The doc says to wait a few days on the amnio and DNA test because she wants to make sure everything is okay. She also wants Sam to stay with someone for the next few days. The men fight over who gets the incubator, but in the end Sam opts to live with Jason across the hall from Sonny and his happy family.
At the penthouse, Carly tells Sonny she knows about Sam's condition and sidesteps how she found out. She claims that Sam is conning Sonny, using the baby to get a permanent hold on the mobster. Sonny says he will be there for all his children, but Carly want to know if Sam will also be part of the bargain. Sonny would just love his own private harem! Disgusted, Sonny walks out to go see his baby, not Sam, he insists. Carly does the typical penthouse show of anger by throwing a glass against the door, then goes to meet Courtney.
Connor and Mary are smooching in the gazebo when Mary notices a peeping Emily, who only sees Connor's backside. Connor and Mary discuss wedding plans and what they want to do to celebrate their anniversary, then Connor leaves to pick up a few things for a romantic evening with his wife. Mary goes after Emily. At the hospital, Emily expresses her disapproval of Mary using another man to get over the loss of her husband, claiming that the only one who will really get hurt is the new lover when Mary realizes that she doesn't love him. As Mary arrives at her house, she remembers Emily's words. She tells Connor a story about a bunny and loving something enough to set it free. She asks him if he wants to be free, but he says she makes him free and presents her with a new engagement ring to represent their new life together. He takes off her wedding ring and puts the new one on.
Luke is at Wyndemere searching for Skye, who can hear him through a vent and continues to yell for him. Luke doesn't seem to be able to hear her. He searches the house, but doesn't find anyone. Lucky arrives and together they talk about the evil Cassadines and Luke suspects Helena may be behind the kidnapping and setting up Laura. Skye tries reasoning with Laura, after the kidnapper pushes a picture of Luke and Laura under the door to her. Skye claims that she could never compete with Laura for Luke's love, that they will always be the supercouple. Meanwhile, Luke decides Wyndemere deserves to die a fiery death. He sets the place on fire while Lucky tries to convince him not to. Back at Skye's place, the PCPD has found traces of blood all over the living room, causing Luke to have to confess all to Lucky about the dead cop. Ironically, he disposed of the body by burying it right on top of Stefan's coffin in the Cassadine graveyard. Lucky thinks maybe Skye did do it in a drunken stupor. Either way, Luke needs to protect both Laura and Skye and so far he isn't doing either.
Carly and Courtney meet at the gazebo and discuss the evil Sam and how she got herself pregnant to keep Sonny. Carly is sure the baby is Sonny's, but has a plan to keep her family together. She wants to rig the DNA test to make the baby Jax's. Surprisingly, Courtney, although she cannot condone the plan, is impressed by the idea. She thinks that if Sam is out of the picture, maybe the Corinthoses will reunite. Carly refuses to live with the situation a moment longer if Sonny tries to have his cake and eat it too. Carly takes off and Courtney meets up with Jax. She tells him that she would never try to give up a baby if she was capable of having one, and that he will make a good father. She also hints that there is a good chance that things will go his way and he will be proven the father. I like Court when she is around Jax. But all the men act like chauvanistic pigs when it comes to Sam and this baby. And the only one who acts like Sam even matters in all this is Jason. I really hope they don't put those two together romantically.
Carly runs into Sam as she is about to enter Penthouse 2. She gets all territorial and calls Sam a slut, again. She promises Sam that she won't get Sonny, that her trick won't work. Jason arrives and defends Sam. Sam whines when she gets into the room that everyone thinks she got pregnant on purpose. Jason asks why she cares.

Looks like more of the same for tommorow. where are Alexis, Dillon and Georgie, a non-adopted Quartermaine or two? Even Ric! Come on writers. All these great players and all you can come up with is another paternity question, another amnesia story, another kidnapping. These actors deserve a great storyline. NOW!
