General Hospital Update for Thursday, 15-Apr-2004

RECAP: Courtney helped Lorenzo escape from Carly's house by knocking out Jason. Carly told Sonny about capturing Lorenzo, and how he was responsible for the car bomb, and so Sonny tracked him at his penthouse to kill him. However, Courtney called the cops (why oh why) and said that Lorenzo is in danger--go to his penthouse. So Ric and some cops interupted Sonny and Lorenzo, and Lorenzo is now free. As a result, Sonny disowned Courtney, and Jason told Courtney they are over--he doesnt understand her--and signed the divorce papers...

It is a new day in Port Charles….

EMILY, NIKOLAS AND MARY
Emily and Alexis discuss where to have Nikolas’ memorial service. Emily wants to have it at the little church in the woods (with the five whole pews) where they got “married” in their hearts. This just happens to be where Mary takes Nikolas to light a candle. As Mary and Nikolas walk in the church, Nikolas starts crying (of course) as he is remembering something—the church feels familiar. Mary proceeds to tell him about “their” wedding in Virginia. A few dorky scenes happened where both Mary and Emily are talking about how they will never forget the vows that Nikolas said and (ta-dah!) the vows are exactly the same for both. Mary and Nikolas leave the church, but Nikolas comes back later on his own, where he cries and prays to remember the love he has for his wife and their life together. Emily decides to check out the church (to be close to Nikolas) and has her hand on the door, with Nikolas still inside. Meanwhile, Mary is in front of Kelly’s buying a paper, and on the front page (slow news day) there is a picture of Nikolas and an article about his memorial service—now that is fast journalism, Emily had just decided today where the service should be….

RIC’S PLOT AGAINST SONNY CONTINUES….
Ric is sitting in Kelly’s (didn’t Mike just tell him yesterday he didn’t want Ric coming to the restaurant?) and the token private investigator shows up—bald, trench coat, fat rings—to give Ric his latest findings on anything related to Sonny and Alexis. He runs down a very dry background on the two of them, concluding with when Alexis moved out of Sonny’s building, which was right around the time she was pregnant. Ric, the genius he is, instantly comes up with the idea that Kristina could be Sonny’s child, as Alexis admitted in the custody battle that she had a one night stand with Sonny. Conveniently, Alexis shows up at Kelly’s and Ric offers her a deal—any info that she has on Sonny and his business from when she was his lawyer in exchange for his protection—he hints around that he might know something about Sonny and Alexis, which shakes up Alexis, but she still turns him down….


JASON, SONNY, COURTNEY AND CARLY….
Courtney shows up at Carly’s with a business proposal for her. Courtney announces she is going to sell her waterfront property so she never has to do business with Sonny and Jason and wants Carly to be her partner in her next project (oh gee, just leave us in suspense about what it is…) because Courtney thinks Carly is a good businesswoman with good instincts. She also says they need to stop living their lives around men and do this for themselves. Then Justus shows up at Carly’s (Courtney asked him to meet her there) and asks him to help her sell her property, and to file her divorce papers. Justus leaves, and Carly is astonished that they are going to get a divorce, because they still love each other. Courtney counters that Carly still loves Sonny and they both need to forget their foolish pride because they are connected and belong together. She just needs to find a bridge that will bring them back together. (Hmm, didn’t she just say not to revolve their lives around men?) All of this discussing Michael overhears—End of Courtney and Carly. At Kelly’s, Sam was looking out for Courtney and tells Mike about Sonny disowning Courtney. Mike then calls Sonny and Sonny comes to Kelly’s. Mike tries to reason with Sonny not to disown Courtney, but Sonny is adamant about not having a sister. Courtney then shows up and Mike said that this is his chance to apologize. Of course, Sonny wont give in and even goes as far as to say he never should have bothered getting to know Mike. Mike tells him Sonny is no better than him, as he jumped right into bed with Sam (Sam is there, btw) and yells at Sonny that he can either accept his responsibilities as a husband, dad and brother, or run—what’s it gonna be? During the showdown at Kelly’s (which is empty, conveniently) Carly goes to the penthouse to reason with Jason not to give up on Courtney and to say everything that happened was all her fault, but he says they are too different and they are over. Oh, did I mention yet that since Michael heard Courtney say Carly and Sonny need a bridge of some kind to get them back together, he tells Morgan that his is going to get himself kidnapped, in order to bring their parents back together? (oh come on!)
