General Hospital Update for Monday, 23-Feb-2004

Opening scene is at the PCPD with Liz/Ric. Luke shows up with a videotape he received. The tape shows Scott, sipping an unbrella'ed cocktail, letting Luke know he's alive and well after having faked his own death in the fire. PCPD's Internal Affairs Dept. was investigating Scott so he decided to leave town. He had hoped the treasure would fund his adventures but the treasure disappeared. (I'm sorry, but isn't Scott worth millions having inherited Dominique's fortune?) Anyway, Scott is taking Serena sailing in the Caribbean. Then he lets Luke know he'll be visiting Laura before he leaves town. Ric re-orders an autopsy on the body they thought was Scott.

At the penthouse Sonny tells Sam they have no future and they should break it off before he hurts her. Sam insists all she wants is an escape, doesn't want to love of depend on Sonny. She starts to leave, Sonny kisses her, and Justus shows up, none too happy about the kissin'. Justus tells Sonny he needs to break it off with Sam, courts favor the mother and Sonny needs to look like the better parent. Part of being the better parent means no shoot-outs, no questionable shipments arriving in PC's ports, no bodies floating in the harbor, and no parading around Mistress Sam. You dig Sonny? Justus warns the kids will get hurt the most in this fight with Carly.

Carly threatens Alexis. Make me look good in court or lose your daughter. She'll tell Sonny he's Christina's father if Alexis doesn't get back Carly's kids. Cornered, Alexis agrees to help, but tells Carly she cannot act out in public and must listen to all of Alexis' directives, which end up including dumping Alcazar, (same reasoning as Justus- look like the better parent).

Later, Alcazar shows up and is none too happy to find out Alexis will represent Carly, but Carly argues Alexis knows Sonny and can fight him. She then tells Alcazar they need to stop seeing each other- she needs to look like a stable/secure person compared to Sonny. She can't be sleeping with a known drug lord with a violent life. Alcazar says he understands and leaves- what a guy. After the commercial break, Alcazar comes back and and tells Carly he's giving up his "business in the states" and will change his life for her. Hmmm, what about his "business" in South America?

Alexis goes by Sonny to advise she's representing Carly and asks if they can reach a compromise. Sonny refuses to negotiate while that "kidnapping boyfriend" is on the scene. "MY children stay with ME. Their mother is not even a consideration." Another dream guy... Alexis tells Sonny she intends to win this case, so he better consider a compromise.

Jax offers to help Courtney with her plans on "starting over." hhmmmmmm.... Mike learns all his bookie debts were paid in full by Courtney. They celebrate her $10 Million windfall at Kelley's. Courtney hints she also received something else but is hesitant to admit what that is.

Jax comes across Sam on the docks. She's all Sonny Sonny Sonny. He tells her she'll never let anyone get close to her and she doesn't want to really be happy. She chose Sonny because she knows he'll turn on her when she slips up and lets him know she had sex with Jax while the Towering Inferno was going on.

Maxie is hysterical when she learns Zander died in the fire, adamant it is all her fault.

Back at Windemere, Helena pleads with Nik/Em to break up. Love ruins Cassadine men. Helena insists their lives will be destroyed if they continue on with their engagement. Once alone, Nik looks concerned and agrees with Helena, Em argues Helena is indestructible and she loved Mikkos. No, counters Nik, Helena is insane from loving Mikkos. Nik/Em hug and kiss some more, talking about their endless love. Lucky calls to let them know Zander was ID'ed as the body in the basement of the hotel. Nik decides to head back to PCPD and turn himself in for killing Zander. ho hum..

Once at PCPD, Nik tells Ric he hit Zander and Zander was unconscious when he locked him in the basement. Maxie shows up, hears Nik confess, becomes hysterical and starts yelling at Em and Nik. Georgie gets her out of there. Em and Nik feel bad about Z's death and Liz assures them there was nothing anyone could have done to save Zander. A forensic report on Zander shows up, and indicates he was hit in the head with a blunt object and already dead before the fire started. Camera stays on Liz (interesting- should we have noted this?) Ric tells Nik there's no proof he didn't hit Zander with a blunt object and kill him, so he's arresting Nik for Z's murder.

Jason is upset to hear "the shipment" didn't arrive on dock as scheduled. He learns the port leasing company, Pride-Phillips, is changing their policy and wants advance notice of shipping schedules and full disclosure of cargo. Jason goes to Sonny, he thinks it's Faith behind the changes. Sonny tells Jason to go down to the leasing company and play bully with the head of Pride-Phillips. Let them know who's boss. Jas shows up at the leasing office looking for the CEO of Pride-Phillips. None other than Courtney spins around in the desk chair.
