In Scott’s office…
Alexis is playing the tape of Laura confessing for Scott. He wants it turned off and says the tape was obtained illegally. She threatens to make it public unless he frees Luke. Scott realizes that would lose him the election, but Alexis says it would be worse if she releases the tape and shows that he wrongly imprisoned an innocent man – he might be disbarred. Scott says he got two confessions (one from Laura and one from Luke) so he went with the one by the person who wasn’t out of his or her mind. Alexis isn’t backing down. Scott agrees to let Luke go if Alexis drops out of the race for district attorney. Alexis says she wouldn’t even consider dropping out when she’s so close to winning. Scott suggests that Luke will never accept his freedom at Laura’s expense, so even if she becomes D.A., she will not be able to free Luke. Scott thinks he, however, can help Luke out as a corner-cutting D.A. He asks her what is more important to her: winning the election or freeing an innocent man.
At the police station…
Courtney is beating herself up over the fact that she didn’t tell AJ she had a gun. Jason is trying to reassure her: the gun is registered; the shooting was in self-defense; no worries. She says the reason she didn’t tell AJ she had a gun was because she was afraid he would take it away from her. She thinks AJ is mad at her and that’s why he hasn’t shown up at the police station yet. Jason again tries to reassure her that if AJ is mad at anyone, he’s mad at Jason. Courtney signs her statement and then heads to the hospital to hear what Coleman has to say. Jason offers to give her a ride and she accepts.
In Jax’s room at the hospital…
Skye and Jax are in post-coital heaven. They marvel at the “alternative treatment” he’s just gotten. Jax promises never to push Skye away again. Aww, make me sick.
Elsewhere in the hospital…
Coleman manages to write out “A.J.” with a bloody finger on the glass outside his window, because his bed has conveniently been placed right next to the window. AJ is on the other side of the window and sees this. He is not pleased. He walks inside, pushes Coleman aside and wipes his name off the window. Taggert shows up and wonders what AJ is doing, is he tampering with evidence? Taggert thinks someone else is involved in the stalking, besides Coleman, and AJ is messing up what possible evidence they could find. AJ yells at Taggert for not finding the stalker sooner, for not helping his wife. Courtney arrives, thrilled to see her husband. AJ wants to get her home and she refuses to leave until Coleman wakes up and she gets some answers from him. Meanwhile, in the hall, Jason advises Taggert that Coleman definitely wasn’t working alone. Taggert is oh-so-appreciative of the thug’s statement of the obvious. Just then, another cop shows up and presents Taggert with evidence found in the apartment across the way…a tape recorder on a timer. It seems this is how the spooky phone calls were sent. Hearing this, Courtney goes back over to Coleman and screams at him to wake up and give her some answers! Miraculously, he does just that and he tells her AJ is to blame! Courtney isn’t buying it, but Taggert has his notebook out, wanting all the details. Coleman says he got paid $250,000 to help in the stalking. (Huh, where would AJ get that kind of money?) Coleman goes on: AJ set up the cameras, recorded the voices and told Coleman when to break in and scare her. He claims that AJ did this all so he could come in and rescue her, play the hero. AJ is objecting at every word, but Taggert keeps taking notes. Courtney just looks at AJ in disbelief. As AJ continues pleading innocence; Courtney doesn’t seem to know what to believe. AJ reminds them all he was disinherited so he wouldn’t have that kind of money. He also tells Courtney he would never hurt her. AJ suggests Taggert arrest him right there since they all seem to believe he’s guilty. Taggert says he isn’t making any arrests (yet). He leaves. Jason tells AJ he knows he is guilty of burning down his warehouse and the Oasis, so maybe this is true… Courtney finally tells AJ she believes in him. She trusts him. She is so grateful to be his wife. AJ is so thrilled to hear that (no doubt). They kiss and make up. Meanwhile, Jason is still listening to Coleman insist it is all true. Jason seems pensive.
Outside the Halloween ball (which was at Club 101)…
Alcazar promises Carly that he can make Brenda disappear with her help. She wants to know how exactly. He says he is all ready to take Brenda to Paris again; he just needs Carly’s help in persuading Brenda to get on the plane. He suggests the two women share a special “connection” due to their mutual love for Sonny so it will be easy to manipulate her. Carly asks confused, like how would she ever be able to manipulate someone into doing something that they might not want to do. No, she’s never done anything like that before. Alcazar spells it out for her. He says Sonny will always love Brenda so it is in Carly’s best interest to get her out of town. Carly can’t make any promises.
In the interrogation room at the police station…
Luke is yelling for his attorney. When Mac says Alexis is meeting with Scott, the D.A., Luke insists he stop the meeting and bring his lawyer to him. It’s an emergency! Nikolas is there and Luke turns to him for help. He says Nik MUST get the tape with Laura’s confession away from Alexis before it is made public. Nik insists Laura would not want Luke to be imprisoned for something he didn’t do, but Luke screams at him, “How the hell do you know what Laura would want?” Luke tries to beat the idea into Nik’s head that they will never see Laura again and she will never get well if she is found guilty for murdering Rick. Nik doesn’t see it that way. Luke screams at Nikolas to get Lucky in there; he wants to talk to his son!
The beckoned Lucky arrives to see his dad and they have the same basic conversation that Luke just had with Nikolas. Lucky is not budging, either, and wants the tape to come out. He refuses to turn his back on his father.
Outside, Nikolas runs into Alexis and tells her that she cannot let the tape go public. She realizes Luke got to him. Alexis thinks the system will work for Laura; she can’t suppress evidence, she tells Nikolas. He is peeved and suggests the law means more to her than family. He accuses her of thinking of his mother as a ‘complication.’ He has some even meaner words for her and then leaves her alone at the police station.
Once the boys are both gone, Luke has some flashbacks to his wedding with Laura (it’s almost anniversary time, you all know :-)). He replays the vows in his head. (“in sickness and in health…till death do us part…”)
In Jason (and Brenda’s) penthouse…
Brenda and Sonny are talking quietly. He asks if she ever thinks about what she would do if she weren’t dying; she says she doesn’t allow herself to think like that. He tells her she’s dead already, that she gave up four years ago. He tells her to think about what she could’ve had in the last four years, the last four years she wasted on Alcazar’s yacht. A lot can happen in four years. She gets pissy and tells him she can still do anything she wants. Sonny boasts, “That’s the Brenda I know.” She takes offense at his claim that he knows her at all and they start arguing. They take their argument out into the hall as she tells him to get out of there. She lets him know that if she were going to live, she wouldn’t spend two seconds of her time with him, that instead, she would rescue Jax from “that lying idiot he married.” On that cue, the elevator door opens with Skye, the lying idiot herself, on the elevator, having heard every word.
Back in Jax’s room…
With Skye gone, Jax fights with the nurse about taking his medication. As soon as she leaves, Jax gets another visitor – Alcazar. He shuts the door behind him. Jax tells him how he will kill him when he gets out of the hospital. Hmm, why wait, ponders Alcazar. He is there to talk about Brenda; he knows Jax is still in love with her and wonders where Jax’s new wife fits into the picture. Jax says Alcazar’s life is more at risk than Brenda’s (no kidding, just ask Skye). Jax says he intends to set Brenda free from Alcazar and says he will kill Alcazar eventually. Luis leans in and again asks him why is he waiting? Jax takes him up on the offer and grabs him around the throat. The nurse comes in and saves Alcazar’s life.
At Sonny’s penthouse…
Carly is home. Sonny asks about the party. Carly mentions that Jason is M.I.A. and hasn’t done a very good job of looking after Brenda so far. Carly turns pensive and wonders if Sonny thinks two women who have loved the same man have a “connection?” Sonny wonders where this came from and she admits that Alcazar said it. Sonny is irate that Alcazar set him up with the Brenda situation to come after Carly. She downplays any danger she was in and fesses up about what happened between her and Alcazar and what Alcazar wanted her to do (I think my heart just stopped, Carly admitting the truth to Sonny?!?). Sonny goes on a rampage about Alcazar talking to his wife, blah blah blah. Carly soothes him by reminding him that she went against her first instinct of getting rid of Brenda and came to him to tell him the truth instead. That just melts his heart, I guess, so they start kissing.
Across the hall…
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK…Brenda runs to the door and finds an annoyed Skye telling her that her “rescue” of Jax from the “lying idiot” will not happen. Brenda is amused that the real Skye has finally emerged; she knew it was all an act before. Skye admits it was, that she wants her husband and she will fight for him and Brenda will lose. She rubs it in Brenda’s face that she and Jax made love earlier and it was fabulous! Brenda makes some catty remarks about having to use sex to get a man. Skye makes some catty remarks in return about Brenda’s illness. Brenda wonders aloud what would happen if she went to Jax and told him she wanted him back. She’s sure she’d get him back. Skye thinks not. Finally, Brenda kicks Mrs. Jax out. With Skye gone, Brenda calls for a cab. She’s heading over to General Hospital.
And back at the hospital…
Brenda has arrived and sneaks into Jax’s room. He’s asleep, but she kisses him on the lips and settles into the chair there to spend the night with him.
Skye gets off the elevator and finds Alcazar. She tells him she is willing to help, will do ANYTHING to get rid of Brenda. Just tell her what she has to do. (Is it just me or do these two have some chemistry?)
