General Hospital Update for Monday, 23-Sep-2002

Edward tells the family how Courtney has covered up for AJ's latest drinking incident by stripping. Ned tells Edward that he can't believe how vindictive he is. Courtney walks out saying that Edward is a hateful old man. AJ tells Edward that they are through.

Lucky verifies that Nikolas helped Luke escape, and Nikolas explains how he did it . He then tries to tell Lucky that Luke wanted him to do it because nobody would suspect him to help Luke, and it would keep Lucky in the clear. Lucky thinks Nikolas set up Luke.

Carly tells Mr. Tagliotti (the "mob guy") that she is not interested in his $2million. She says his business interests are not for sale. She said that his business would continue as if he was still in charge. She said that he would want it this way, and nobody is going to touch his territories. Tagliotti says that the families are meeting tonight at the no name to buy Sonny's holdings and there is nothing she can do. She retorts, "Like hell I can't!"

Jason and Brenda pull away from a hug. He asks if she is alright. She said that her nightmares are getting worse and that the medication used to help. Jason offers to get meds for her but she said she doesn't want any more drugs. Sonny walks into the next room and listens at the vent. Jason tells her that he is doing everything he can for her and if she needs anything to tell him. Brenda asks him to leave. Jason enters the next room and tells Sonny that they need to get Brenda out of there now.

Carly is on the phone trying to get a hold of Jason. Elizabeth walks in hearing Carly say that she is going out of her mind and she is worried. Elizabeth asks if she was talking to Jason, and where he is.

Jason tells Sonny Brenda had a nightmare and that she turns down his getting her meds for her illness. He states that she is only concerned with Jax. He tells Sonny he can't deal with her anymore and he wants Sonny to send her to Puerto Rico. Sonny refuses. He said that they are holding her until Alcazar is out of the picture and then she can do whatever she wants. Jason said he needs a break, and Sonny tells him to be back asap.

Lucky says that this would be the perfect way for Nikolas to get back at Luke since he blames Luke for what has happened to Laura.
Nikolas said that if he were trying to set him up he would be in jail, not out running around.
Alexis advises them not to talk about this anymore. She tells Lucky that she has already lied to Scott, which puts her career on the line. She tells them to keep out of trouble because she will not be able to help. She says she will help Luke the best she can whether or not he wants her help. Lucky admits he is just upset because Luke didn't come to him for help.

AJ argues with Edward about how he humiliated Courtney. AJ says that Edward will never get anywhere near Michael. AJ admits to Monica that he was drinking and driving, and how Courtney got involved with stripping.
Ned asks why AJ didn't go to one of them. AJ said that has never worked in the past. Monica asks why Courtney didn't go to Sonny. AJ explains that she didn't want to owe him. Ned and Monica tell AJ that he has trashed Courtney's life. Skye sticks up for AJ and says they all make it sound so easy. Edward says sure one drunk defends another. AJ tells him to go to hell. He then tells Edward that Courtney has strength, character, and grace and he wishes he had half as much. He then says that there is still time for him, but it is way to late for Edward.

Courtney is walking down the steps to the pier as a man walks past. After she gets to the bottom of the steps the man turns around and tries to steal her purse. She fights back and he slams her up against a wall. She starts to get away and the guy regains control. Jason sees her struggling and he gets the guy off of her. Jason takes the guy's wallet, gives Courtney the money, takes the guy's id and tells him that he knows his name and where he lives and if he bothers her or anyone else again he will hunt him down. The guy runs off and Courtney hugs Jason.

Skye makes the announcement that she and Jax are still getting married. Jax says by the end of the week. She tells Alexis and Ned that they are invited to the wedding, as well as AJ and Courtney. She says that Monica should join Allan in Arizona and Edward can go to hell. She said that the wedding is a celebration and Edward and Monica are part of the same old tired ending.

Nikolas continues to defend himself. Explaining that the family will need Lucky now more than ever. Lucky apologizes. He said he appreciates everything Nikolas has done. Lucky says that he will take over from here. He says Baldwin has been trying to everything to break up their family and now he is going to make him pay.

Elizabeth tries to find out from Carly where Jason is and where he's been going every night. Carly says that it's "business". Elizabeth wants to know what that means. Carly says
it means exactly what it sounds like. It's the all purpose answer that means do not ask any more questions. Carly tells her that she can not help her with this. She then tells the guard to pull the car around now.

Brenda is knocking on the door of her room trying to get Jason's attention. She says she needs to tell him one thing about Jax. She begins screaming and banging on the door.
She realizes that someone is on the other side of the wall. She says she can see them moving through the grate. She keeps asking questions for the person to talk, but the person on the other side (Sonny) does not answer. She says Jason blames her even though he hasn't come out and said it yet. She says that maybe it is her fault, but that she only wanted to protect him. She said that no matter what happened she always loved him.

Skye and Jax walk into the cottage and she says she can't believe AJ would risk his marriage or his life to drink again. Jax says that if anyone would understand that she would. She said that she lifted herself out of it and that AJ will too. She says how good it is that he is able to stay broken free from the family, and her too. They talk about Jax's parents and how sweet they are, and that they are coming to the wedding. They mention that Rae won't be able to make it. Jax gives her an engagement ring.

Courtney and Jason back off from the hug. He reassures her that the guy won't be back. She thinks that it happened because as Edward said, she is a stripper and that she is dirty. Jason tells her to ignore Edward and that she does not need him or his approval. Courtney realizes that Jason actually cares about people and that AJ is wrong about him. AJ walks up and sees them together, and tells Jason to get the hell away from his wife. Courtney tries to tell AJ that Jason was just trying to help. AJ tells Jason that he's done enough by watching Courtney strip night after night. (In walks Elizabeth in the background, just in time to hear that last comment.) He tells Jason to show some respect. He then says that he just stood up to his entire family for Courtney and then he comes to find her with Jason. She says she will explain and AJ says there is no need and that it is all clear.
(AJ and Courtney leave and Elizabeth walks over to Jason) Jason asks Elizabeth why she is outside and if everything is okay. She says she was worried about him. She said Carly got her a little upset. She then says she overheard what AJ said and asks if it is true about him and Courtney.

Skye can't take her eyes off the ring. Jax asks what plans she wants to make for the wedding, and she states she wants a simple wedding there in Port Charles. She says that she wanted to get married at St. Timothy's but is unsure now.

Alexis and Ned discuss that they hope things work out for Jax and Skye. Alexis explains to Ned that she was late because Luke escaped. Ned compares Luke and Sonny and says that Sonny is dead and Luke is gone and that Alexis should move on. He tells her to concentrate on the future because that is where the hope is.

Carly walks in on the meeting for the division of Sonny's properties at a restaurant. She tells them to skip the topic of dividing the territory and that she will be running his business in his name. They ignore her. She takes a bat and breaks some items on the table and says, "As I was saying".

Brenda is still talking to "the person" on the other side of the wall. She said the only thing that matters to her now is protecting Jax. She says that she would give anything to see him right now, or to talk to him.

Jax tells Skye to forget about superstition (mention to Sonny's recent death at the church). Skye agrees and says the wedding will be at St. Timothy's and they will spend the night at the cottage, and then for the honeymoon they will go to the South of France.

Courtney tries to explain to AJ that she was attacked and Jason saved her. AJ says that it is ripping him apart that Jason saves her and he can't. He says every time he turns around it's Jason. He says he can't compete with him and can't come close. Courtney leaves the room.

Jason explains to Elizabeth that Courtney was just attacked. She says she was lucky that he was there. Elizabeth apologizes for leaving the penthouse but she was worried about him. She asks what is going on and Jason tells her that he can't tell her what is going on. Elizabeth says, "Courtney must be pretty grateful." She motions to his neck and asks if that is lipstick or a smudge of blood. He wipes it off his neck, and says there are things he can't explain to her right now and he needs to take her back to the penthouse.

Carly tells the fellas that they lack imagination. She says she is well equipped to run Sonny's territory and that there are people waiting to carry out her orders such as Jason Morgan. She says that nothing has changed. She tells them if they make a move they have Jason to deal with and then her.

Brenda asks if there is anything that she could make this person do to break their orders. She makes fun of how the guards can't break their "sacred orders" and Sonny smiles. She says she feels bad for people like that, those that have to take orders. Brenda says that she recalls one day when she was walking down the pier, a man walked up to her and asked if she needed help... flashback of multiple scenes with her and Sonny together (the two of them are on either side of the wall leaning against it, recalling memories of them together).

Scenes for tomorrow:
Elizabeth says to Courtney, "Good thing your brother-in-law showed up when he did." Courtney responds, "I never really thought about Jason as my brother-in-law before."

Scott says, "Jason's going to take over Sonny's little thrown." Taggert replies, "Not exactly."

Carly, "They said that there was a woman here." Priest responds, "yes." Carly asks, "and you've never seen her here before?"

Roy tells Felicia, "This long, slow walk through hell is about to end."

Announcer says we'll find out tomorrow if Alexis is having a boy or a girl.
