Luke and Lucky have a serious heart to heart. Lucky tells his father that he’s ready to do anything necessary to see that Luke doesn’t have to spend a day at Pentonville. Luke tells Lucky that there’s already a plan in motion and that he’s to meet Roy at the Pier and do exactly as he says. Bobbie visits and immediately senses that something is up – after all, this is Luke we’re talking about! She asks him if he plans on disappearing for 5 years. He asks her to keep an eye on Lulu and tells his sis that no matter where he is, she’s always in his heart. Nice dodge, Luke!

Carly gazes out the window of the penthouse and tells Mike how just the night before, she and Sonny had stood together in that exact spot and watched Alcazar’s yacht sink. Mike tells Carly that she reminds him of his son as she stares pensively out the window. Carly tells Mike that Sonny’s circle of close friends wasn’t large, but he loved them all and would’ve done anything to keep them safe. Later, AJ gives his support to his wife as she mourns the loss of her brother before joining Mike and Carly in the penthouse. Meanwhile, A.J.’s already finding out ways to capitalize on Sonny’s death so that he can reclaim a spot in his son’s life.

Taggert in his infinite cluelessness decides that something’s fishy about the whole Sonny assassination and heads to the morgue to confirm the death of his enemy. Surprise! Yup – empty drawer! Taggert finds out that Jason signed the release for the funeral home – foiled again Marcus!!

Sonny reads all the different newspaper accounts of his death. Jason tells him how much Brenda wants to leave, but Sonny says she has to stay put to be safe. Yeah, sure – too bad it’s Jason who’s been taking the brunt of her anger and fear. Brenda pleads with Jason (as Sonny eavesdrops) to warn Jax so that he doesn’t die as Sonny did. Jason tells her that she can’t leave the safe house until Alcazar is eliminated. He tells her that if she makes a beeline for Jax, Alcazar will snatch her right off the street and she’ll be back as his prisoner. Brenda understands, but can’t see why Jason won’t at least alert Jax to the danger. Later, Sonny expresses concern over Carly’s state of mind, but Jason reassures him that she’s strong.

Luke and Scotty are in the back of a van heading for the last round-up when Scott decides to take advantage of his rival’s confinement. He starts needling him about how it’s Luke’s fault that Laura had to be confined so far away. Luke takes the bait, then launches into a back-at-ya about how Scott has never measured up to Luke in Laura’s eyes and that no matter what, she will always choose Luke over Scotty. They keep up this trash talk for awhile until Scott can’t take anymore. He’s going to kick the crap out of Luke while he still has the chance! The driver doesn’t want to pull over, but Scott reminds him that he’s the new acting D.A. – big whoop. After removing Luke’s handcuffs, the two scuffle a bit before Scott unaccountably drops to the ground. Luke straightens up and says “it took you long enough”. Nikolas puts down the two by four that he clobbered Scott with, then the two discuss how Luke is going to disappear. Luke tells his wife’s son that he will let Laura know how he aided him and promises to take good care of her. Nikolas gets back into his rental car and heads back towards P.C. while Luke takes one last look at the now unconscious (and cuffed) Baldwin before heading into the woods.

A.J. announces to his family that he plans to get his son back. Monica is predictably not on his side as she anticipates another battle between her black sheep son and golden child. Edward states that he’s the only one A.J. hasn’t looked to for support and he’s also the only one with enough clout to make it happen. A.J. and Edward circle each other warily, but in the end hammer out an agreement to return Michael to the Quartermaine fold.

Taggert hauls Jason into the PCPD and questions him about signing for Sonny’s body, where Sonny’s bodyguards were, etc. Jason does what he does best and doesn’t answer. Meanwhile, Brenda is trying to convince Benny to help her get to Jax. He tells her that he can’t do that and that even as they speak, Jason is with Carly at Sonny’s funeral. Brenda fakes a severe headache and when Benny goes to leave the room, conks him over the head with a vase of flowers. She then opens the window, which has been conveniently left unlatched and heads for town.

At the funeral, a small crowd arrives including Monica. Jason asks why she’s there and she says she’s there to support him in his grief. He hugs her and Monica probably wishes Sonny died every day of the week just so she could be close to her boy. Alexis enters – uh oh – but is stopped by Carly and asked to leave. In fact, Carly tells her she wishes that she’d had Sonny cremated so that she could throw the ashes in Alexis’ face – ouch. Predictably enough, Taggert makes a rude and disrespectful entrance and demands to see Sonny’s body in the casket – ick. Carly tries to stop him, as does Jason, but Taggert yanks open the lid (actually rocking the casket and jiggling Sonny’s apparently lifeless body). I knew that he’d be in there of course, but it was kind of a creepy moment. Carly gives it all she’s got and asks if there is anything else that he could possibly do to dishonor her husband. Taggert leaves as does everyone else at Jason’s request. He calms Carly down and leaves her in the room with her husband. As she lovingly touches his hands and face, his eyelids flutter open. He hugs her and tells her he’ll never leave her.

Lucky is haunting the docks waiting for Roy. He calls and gets the machine and then takes off running. He’s at the PCPD wanting to know why his father was transported without his being notified when the call comes in that Luke’s escaped. Taggert wants to know what Lucky had to do with it.

Brenda makes it to the church and inside, but has to hide when the Priest makes an unexpected appearance. She stands outside the door to the sanctuary and tries to gather her courage to go inside.
