Carly lights candles at the dinner table in the penthouse.

Sonny slowly walks towards St. Timothy's Church in the rain.

Brenda kneels in a pew in the church, praying.

Roy hides behind the bushes outside the church.

Brenda gets up and heads towards the church doors.

Sonny arrives at the courtyard in front of the church.

Roy waits.

Jason gets out of the limo.

Brenda opens the first set of doors and takes a breath.

Sonny walks closer.

Roy waits.

Carly pours wine for dinner.

Sonny is outside the church doors.

Carly starts to drink a glass of wine, but is startled and drops it.

Brenda opens the outside doors.

Sonny sees Brenda; his eyes are wide, in shock.

Brenda smiles at him and laughs.

Carly's glass drops to the floor, leaving a pool of red.

Gunshot.

Gunshot.

Gunshot.

Brenda screams.

Gunshot.

Sonny drops to the ground.

Brenda runs over and picks him up. She holds his head in her lap, gets blood on her hands.

Jason arrives.

Sonny gasps and tells Jason to get her out of there.

Jason picks Brenda up and carries her, kicking and screaming, into the car. He literally throws her in the car and it takes off.

"Brenda," Sonny utters, lying in a pool of his own blood.

In the car, racing away from Sonny, Brenda desparately tries to get out and starts screaming at Jason to go back for Sonny. Jason tells her to calm down. He makes two quick phone calls. In the first one, presumably to paramedics, Jason says, "A man's been shot, needs an ambulance." The second call is to Carly and Jason tells her Sonny needs her at St. Timothy's church. Brenda insists on knowing who Jason has called and why he isn't going back for Sonny. Jason has questions of his own. "How long have you been with Alcazar?" he demands. Brenda and Jason continue to argue, he has questions, she doesn't want to answer them and instead wants to get back to Sonny. She does tell Jason that Alcazar saved her from drowning. Jason tells Brenda that he is doing exactly what Sonny wants...his dying words were to get her away from there.

Meanwhile, Alcazar is with Felicia in an apartment and tells her it is about time, Roy should be calling soon. All he will then need is independent confirmation from the Port Charles Police Department and she'll be free to go. Felicia is bitter about the whole situation and regrets ever having taken Alcazar's money. Luis laughs about how great money is and what it can buy and what it can make people do. Like it turned Roy into a killer. Felicia says that Roy is not a killer and Luis warns her that she better hope she's wrong about that, or else she will be dead. Then, Roy calls and says the job is done. Alcazar explains that he needs word from the police before Felicia will be let free. Roy is livid and threatens that if Felicia isn't there with him in an hour, then Luis will be a dead man. Roy is pissed off after hanging up and throws things around his penthouse. Alcazar tells Felicia the good news, except she doesn't see it as such great news considering a man is dead. Alcazar says it is quaint and sweet that Roy would kill for love, but some people actually need to kill for survival. He tells Felicia how he had no life until he found this amazing, unpredictable, wonderful, out-of-the-ordinary woman. Brenda, obviously, although he mentions no names to Felicia. Because he found his life when he met this woman, he needs Sonny dead to survive. Yes, it's the logic of a psycho arms dealer.

Back in front of St. Timothy's, Sonny is lying on the ground, bleeding and dying. The priest comes out of the church and finds Sonny and tries to help him, covers his chest with his jacket, puts his sweater under Sonny's head. Then he prays. The paramedics show up and try to save him, to no avail. Sonny's dead. Just then, Carly shows up and starts screaming and crying, telling her husband to "Open your eyes!" When he doesn't, she starts reminding him of their plans and asks what she is going to do without him?! The priest tries to pull her away but she isn't budging. Carly swears she will always love him and the paramedics take him away. Then, Taggert and his fellow PCPD buffoons show up, confused. Where is the body? Carly tells him her husband is dead. Taggert is really confused about why the body is gone, why the paramedics would have taken it away. He asks questions of the priest and the priest tells what he knows, but it is very little. Taggert tells Carly he is sorry for her loss, but she doesn't believe him since he hated Sonny. Taggert wonders where Sonny's bodyguards were or, more importantly, where was Jason? Carly finally tells him what she knows, about Jason calling her and her arriving to find Sonny dead. She says she can give him the name of who did this, though. "Alcazar."

Back to Luis and Felicia, he informs her that Roy might be arrested, but he need not worry as he has an air-tight alibi--the three of them were having a lovely dinner talking about dock development. When Felicia suggests that perhaps the lovely fake dinner only had her and Roy at it, leaving Alcazar free to commit murder, Alcazar reminds her that he has no motive at all. Just then, he gets the other call confirming Sonny's death. He tells Felicia she is free to go, her family is safe. Felicia mentions that Roy won't be safe, though, that Jason will come after Roy and then come after Alcazar. Felicia leaves.

Jason has taken Brenda to a safe-house. She still isn't answering his questions, though. She does not understand why Jason would have left Sonny lying dead on the ground. Finally, Brenda tells Jason that she is sick, she inherited her mom's illness and it makes her question reality at times. She tells Jason how Luis promised to keep her away from the people she loves so that she wouldn't hurt them. When she saw they were back in Port Charles, she stopped taking her medication. And, when she heard Luis order someone to kill Sonny, she knew she had to warn him somehow. She admits she sank the yacht. When Jason asks why she didn't just tell Sonny over the phone, Brenda admits she wanted to see him. "Well, you got what you wanted, didn't you?" snotty Jason asks her. He tells her she is safe where she is, but she wants to warn Jax, too. Then, she suggests Jason go to Jax and protect him, that is what Sonny would want. Jason says he follows Sonny's orders, not her orders. They get the call, Sonny's been taken to the morgue. Brenda is devastated. She says that when Sonny saw her at the church, she realized that he had always loved her. She wasn't sure in the past but she knew when they locked eyes. She claims that she's always loved him and he always loved her, that it was fine even if she loved him more. As she talks, we see Sonny in the next room, taking off his shirt, revealing a bulletproof vest. Why, he's not dead after all!

Felicia and Roy reunite. She tells him he needs to leave town so Jason won't come after him. Roy says he's not leaving. He takes her to her girls. When he gets back to his penthouse, Luis is waiting for him inside. He wants more information about why Sonny was at St. Timothy's Church. Roy is sarcastic and says he didn't have time to ask, he was too busy shooting him. Luis says he has one last thing for Roy to do. He gives Roy a picture of Brenda and says he must intercept her; she will probably be at Jax's house. Roy says if he does this, it is the last thing he owes him. Luis agrees, adding that Roy must still kill Jax, too, of course.

Over at Jax's cabin, Jax wakes up and finds Skye missing, out of bed. He calls for her but there is no answer so he gets up. She is standing by the door, watching it rain. She tells him how once she woke up, she was afraid to open her eyes and find out that she had been dreaming and that she wasn't back with him. Finally, she fought the fear and opened her eyes and found out that it was all real. Jax admits he knows the physical manifestations of fear, except he called it grief. He tells Skye how sad he was for so long, that it took him a very long time to get over Brenda but now he knows for sure that he is over her (uh oh, bad news for Miss Barrett). Skye thinks she is living a miracle, that it is a magical time. Jax says they need to get back to reality. Skye thinks this means he wants her gone, but instead, he proposes! She says, "Yes!" of course.
