General Hospital Update for Thursday, 5-Sep-2002

SORRY FOR THE DELAY

TODAY'S EPISODE WAS FILLED WITH IMPORTANT SCEENS AS WE MOVE CLOSER TO THE CLIMAX OF THE ALCAZAR/CORINTHOS/JACKS WAR.
SOME OF THE SCEEN RECAPS ARE QUITE LONGE, BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE OUT ANYTHING IMPORTANT. I APOLOGIZE IN ADVANCE IF ANY OF THIS GETS TOO LONG AND BORING...

HARBORVIEW TOWERS:
JASON'S PH-
Zander quizzes Liz about THEIR past relationship and her current one with Jason. She ends up telling him that they (she and Zander) slept together once, but decided it was a mistake. When he asked about his romantic past, Liz tells him about his romance with Emily Q. Liz tells Zander that they were great together until the accident and how she broke up with him over the phone. Zander jokes that maybe he hit himself in attempt to put himself out of his misery.
SONNY'S PH-
Carly and Sonny continue to "discuss" her refusal to leave town for her own safety. Sonny threatens to fire Johnny but Carly defends him by saying it was her choice. Sonny tries to explain that things are coming to a head with Alcazar and he needed to know that she and Michael were both safe. In the end Carly's argument that she vowed to be by Sonny's side for better or worse convinces Sonny to give up the fight. A phone call comes in telling Sonny that Jason has failed to report on time. Carly's inquires why Sonny doesn't just call him and Sonny explains that if Jason isn't already in trouble, a call would definitely put him in danger. Carly then suggests that they throw Alcazar off guard by doing something totally unexpected. Sonny thinks it's a good idea and suggests they go out on the town.


GH PYSCIATRIC WARD:
Scott visits Laura, who does not recognize him. She has apparently regressed to her childhood as she pleads with Scott to convince her parents to get her out of the ward. In return she promises that she will dress appropriately, stop cutting school and obey her curfew. Scott is shocked at Laura's condition, but tries to soothe her by explaining that she didn't do anything wrong, it was everyone else who made the mistakes which she is now paying for.

CLUB 101:
Alexis meets with Jax, who gives her some details on his meeting with Alcazar and pumps her for any knowledge she might have on a connection between Sonny and Alcazar. The talk turns to Skye and both end up admitting that they should have listened when others warned them what Sonny and Skye where really like.
Roy arrives to meet Felicia, but has to give her a rain check because Luke has sent him an S.O.S. Felicia totally understands as she explains that she knows Luke is innocent of the crime the same why Roy does. Because Luke would have gotten rid of the evidence and showed up for his wedding if he had done it. Both wonder if Luke has already come up with a plan.
Courtney and AJ arrive and appear to be celebrating. The celebration starts to take a sour note when AJ pulls Courtney’s shawl up to cover her bare shoulders. Courtney questions his motives, but AJ claims concern because he thought she was cold. The next sour note hits when Sonny and Carly arrive at the club. Nobody is thrilled to see the others. Jax guesses that Sonny is there to show Alcazar that he isn’t worried. Courtney tries to convince AJ to just ignore Sonny and Carly. Carly refuses to let the foursome ruin her night. Sonny fills Carly in on his discussion with Jax about Alcazar and Jax’s subsequent offer to team up.
Shortly after, an admirer approaches Courtney and asks if she will dance at a bachelor party. AJ tells the guy to take a hike, but the man calmly (and almost politely) refuses to leave. Sonny intervenes and gets the guy to go away. AJ takes offense that Courtney accepted Sonny’s help and insists on leaving immediately. Both AJ and Courtney jump on Sonny’s case when he offers to pay for their dinner.
Meanwhile, Carly has taken the opportunity provided by Sonny’s distraction to approach Jax and rag on him about taking her club. She also tries to tell him that she can change Sonny’s mind about teaming up against Alcazar. Jax tells Carly that Sonny is an arrogant fool and advises her to leave town so she won’t get hurt by Sonny’s downfall. Carly immediately returns the insult and tells Jax he is the arrogant fool, because Sonny is an expert at protecting himself and didn’t NEED Jax’s help, but Jax on the other hand did need Sonny’s.
Sonny pulls her away and Carly suggests they continue their night at home.

PCPD:
Bobbie urges Luke to recant on his confession and go to trial so that Laura can clear him with her testimony. Luke refuses to reconsider his plan even though Bobbie pleads with him to think of the children's best interest. Luke insists that having Laura home is what is best for the children. He then asks Bobbie to look out for Lulu. Bobbie readily agrees. As Bobbie leaves the interrogation room Roy arrives for his visit with Luke. Out the room, Bobbie questions Scott about his treatment of Luke. Scott tries to convince Bobbie that he suggested to Luke that he plead involuntary manslaughter and go to trial, but Luke stubbornly refused to consider the idea. Bobbie says they both know Luke is innocent and would never have confessed except to protect his beloved Laura.
Inside the interrogation room, Luke tells Roy he has a plan which he might need to put in effect that very night. Roy gets a phone call, but apparently the person on the other end quickly hangs up before Roy could say much more than ‘Hello’. Roy promises to be ready whenever Luke needs him.
Scott enters the room as Roy leaves and demands that Luke sign his confession. Luke refuses to do so unless he gets one last visit with Laura. Scott tells Luke that Laura didn’t even recognize him the last time he saw her and tells Luke that a visit from him will only upset Laura. Luke stubbornly refuses to sign though. Both men accuse the other of being responsible for Laura’s current condition. A frustrated Scott takes the confession and leaves the room.

ALCAZAR'S YAHCT:
Brenda appears worried as she realizes that her ‘rescuer’ is Jason. It takes Jason a few moments to pick the lock and when he finally gets into the room it appears to be empty. Believing that the woman is hiding out of fear, Jason tries to coax her into revealing herself by soothingly saying that he can he can help her escape if she wants to escape. From her hiding place Brenda smiles fondly as Jason reveals to the empty room that he works for Sonny Corinthos. Jason hears a faint noise coming from behind a door and quickly opens it. On the other side he comes face to face with a woman, but it is only the nurse. She urges him to leave quickly, but Jason insists on getting her name. The door flies open and Alcazar and his men enter. Alcazar greets Jason and tells him that he has been looking forward to killing him. Alcazar then orders his men to kill Jason (and NOT to make any mistakes this time). From her hiding place Brenda appears to be upset by the turn of events. The nurse tries to explain to Alcazar how she had just found Jason moments before he arrived. Alcazar assures her that there is no problem as no damage was done. They leave the room and Brenda exits her hiding place (the ceiling to floor wardrobe). She heads straight for the door. But on the other side, Alcazar is waiting for her with a warning that any rescue attempt would ill advised. He asks if she has changed her mind and tells her that she can leave the ship whenever she likes. He then reminds her that she used to trust him. He reminds her that he saved her life when her mother tried to kill her, took her to a clinic in Switzerland and was by her side when she was diagnosed with the same disease as her mother, agreed to stay and take care of her for the rest of her life. Alcazar then asks if she no longer trust him and gives her time to think about it.
Meanwhile out on the deck, Jason struggles with two of Alcazar’s henchmen. He gets the best of them of a brief moment and jumps ship – literally. The henchmen fire several shots into the spot where Jason entered the water.
Back inside the stateroom Brenda assures ‘Luis’ that she does trust him but wants to know why Jason had to die when he didn’t even see her. Alcazar reminds her that she was the one who didn’t want Sonny and Jax to know she was still alive and Zander had already seen her. Brenda reminds Alcazar that she doesn’t want Sonny or Jax hurt. Alcazar assures her he isn’t going to ‘hurt’ them, he is just going to make sure they can’t track her down. One of then men knocks and informs Alcazar that Roy has arrived.

GH PYSCIATRIC WARD:
Scott watches from behind a two-way mirror as Luke visits Laura and tells to fake taking her pill that night so that she will be awake when he comes to get her. Luke is heartbroken when he realizes that Laura has regressed so much that she hardly recognizes him. She calls him a bad man who wants to hurt her and screams for her mother when Luke tries to touch her. Luke tries to convince her that he is going to help get her out of the hospital, but Laura gets hysterical when he urges her to ‘remember’.

JASON'S PH-
Liz is explaining to Zander that she isn’t sure what her relationship is with Jason or what she expects from it when Jason returns. He is wet and bleeding from a cut on the forehead. Liz orders Zander to search of a first aid kit as she tries to tend to Jason’s wound. Jason is impatient and when Zander returns with the kit, Jason urges Zander to try to remember everything. Jason tells Zander he will describe everything he saw on the ship in hope of jogging Zander’s memory, but warns that they are running out of time.

ALCAZAR'S YAHCT:
Brenda listens from behind the office doorway as Alcazar tells Roy that he has to leave sooner that expected. Roy replies that he will be sure Alcazar gets his share of the profits on a timely basis. Alcazar says that he will look forward to receiving the checks but he has one last ‘job’ for Roy. Much to both Brenda and Roy’s disbelief, Alcazar orders Roy to kill Sonny…
