General Hospital Update for Thursday, 15-Aug-2002

Thursday, General Hospital, August 15

Okay…Quite a bit happened today, so please bear with me. This will be a long one!

@ The Cliff
Gia and Nikolas watch in horror, as Lucky is unable to climb out of Rick’s car. They freak out and start crying when they think he is dead. As they are hugging, Gia spots Lucky coming out from some bushes with only a few scratches on his face. Did you miss me? He asks jokingly, they give him hell for being so stupid. That was easy! He replies, but now comes the hard part; the need to call the police. They start discussing who will make the inevitable phone call. It can’t be the brothers because they are connected to Rick by marriage, so it has to be Gia. No way! She exclaims, she begs them to reconsider and to just wait until some hiker finds the car. They tell her that if they wait too many questions will pop up and people will start putting two and two together. If they do it this way, it’s more believable. She finally concedes and pulls out her cell phone. Lucky and Nikolas watch with strange faces as Gia practices different accents to use for the call. They poke fun for a few minutes, but then get back to the issue at hand. She begins to make the call, 911 right? She asks (she must be under pressure) but just as she does the cops show up.
Nikolas and Lucky disappear leaving Gia to fend off the police. She tells the cop that she was driving behind Rick when she saw his car drive off the cliff. No she didn’t see who it was. The cop is suspicious as the highway is rarely busy and Gia just happens to be there. Gia wants to leave, but the cop tells her that she has to go down to the police station to write a statement.

@ Kelly’s (inside)
Jason is at the counter paying Liz for whatever it was he ordered. He tells her the tip is on the table, but Liz has another idea. Take me for a ride, just the two of us, she asks. He tells her that it’s too dangerous right now and that they can’t be together so to forget about that ride and he leaves. Courtney comes up and tells Liz that she will cover her shift if Liz wants to take off with Jason. Liz tells Courtney, thanks but he doesn’t seem to be interested. Liz perks up when Courtney tells her that he seemed pretty interested to her. Liz begins to explain her relationship with Jason to Courtney, how he makes her feel and how she can be herself. She is sick of people telling her how to live her life. Courtney says she understands completely because she used to feel the same about AJ. AJ pops up behind her and says, used to? How do I make you feel now? Courtney covers by saying that the words came out wrong, she is just really tired. AJ tells his wife that he wishes she would complain about her other job without having to worry that it would upset AJ. He wants her to be completely honest with him. Courtney tells him that he is what gets her through the day. Coleman shows up, Courtney spots him immediately and tries her best to avoid a confrontation, but he asks if he can get some service. AJ spins around and demands to know what the guy is doing there. Politely, Coleman asks for a menu, but AJ jumps up and walks over to the table. They start trading insults to each other, AJ calling him a sleaze and calling the girls that work for him sluts. Coleman says that some of the SLUTS, are decent woman who need money to take care of kids, or deadbeat husbands like him. They start ripping into each other until AJ pushes him against the wall and holds his arm against Coleman’s throat. Courtney tries to step in and break up the fight, but has no luck.
Later, we see Lucky and Nikolas waiting for Gia wondering what happened to her. Scott shows up and sits with the brothers. He asks Lucky where he got the scar and Lucky tells him he got it playing handball. Scott asks if they’ve heard from Laura, no, not at all they reply. Funny, Scott says, Luke and Laura are missing and now Rick is too. He is interrupted by a phone call and is told about the accident involving Rick. The brothers feign surprise when Scott tells them that Rick’s car just went over a cliff and he’s dead. Lucky asks if the car malfunctioned. No, he had a bottle of Vodka next to him, is the reply from the DA. Rick was drunk? Nikolas asks in shock. They assume that that must be why he never made it to the wedding or completed the hospital takeover. Funny, Scott says, since Rick hardly drank.

@ Kelly’s (outside)
Jason is asking someone what Benny came up with on Alcazar. The guy informs him that so far they have found out that Alcazar has rented an entire floor at the Port Charles Hotel and is surrounded by bodyguards. Jason tells him to get a message to Alcazar; he wants a meeting.
Courtney follows AJ outside and he is still furious with Coleman. Courtney begs her husband to let it go. Coleman comes out and before leaving he tells “Daisy” that she is a sweet girl and deserves much better. Angrily, AJ tells his wife that he still has connections in the town and will see to it that the Oasis is shut down. Courtney begs him to reconsider. He thinks it because she scared, yea I am scared, she replies, because he can throw you in prison. AJ concedes, only if she will allow him to take her home and pamper her all night.

@ The Pier
Roy is waiting, presumably for Alcazar. He shows up with briefcase in hand. He asks Roy if he has the other half of the map. Roy tells moneybags that the map is his until he has the cash. Alcazar hands over the money and Roy gives him the map. Roy tells him that he needs to find his sense of gratitude after all, he put the warehouse of business long before Alcazar blew it up and now he stole the map. Alcazar interrupts him and says angrily that he wants Sonny and Jax to pay. He wants them to claw out each other until they are both destroyed. He wants to see the look in “her” eyes when he tells her that they are finished (meaning Sonny and Jax). Roy is just a means to an end, you got it? Yea I get there’s a woman involved, Roy replies. The scene switches to Alcazar’s hotel room where “Brenda” is seen standing in front a mirror (we still don’t see her face) the maid comes in and tells her its time for her medication. “Brenda” takes the pills but doesn’t swallow, she puts them in plant and the scene switches back to the Pier where Roy reminds Alcazar that he didn’t just pick him out of a phone book. Alcazar replies and says yea, for your so-called skills that I have yet to see. They threaten each other some more and Alcazar tells Roy that people who annoy him suffer strange accidents. Roy leaves after he says that Alcazar has no idea how valuable he is to him. Alcazar remains at the Pier for a few more minutes then walks away. We see Zander emerge from the shadows and follow Alcazar.
Later, Jason shows up and receives a mysterious phone call from a man telling him to be somewhere in a hour. Jason asks who it is then says that he doesn’t want any lackies to meet him, he wants to real thing. The mystery caller hangs up without saying anything.

@ The Lakehouse
Jax and Skye are making plans for the engagement party. Skye tells her fiancé that she wants more flowers, but has a sudden change of heart. She starts having second thoughts about the whole party because of Jax’s financial situation. Jax tells her that the plans go ahead regardless of any problems. He wants everyone to see how happy they are. He starts talking about their future and what they will be doing in fifty years, when Skye gets teary-eyed and blurts out that she is so incredibly sorry. Jax asks why. She tells him its because it took her so long to realize how wonderful he truly was. In the face of defeat he is still thinking ahead and positively. She can’t listen to him joke about his situation. He tells her that he has never been one to dwell on something and that he will never leave her wanting anything. He tells her that they deserve each other and that they have every right to be happy. He says that he will phone his flower guy and order every single lilie in a 1000 mile radius, including the Quartermaine garden and have them for the party. After he leaves, Skye phones Edward and tells him she needs to see him. He thinks she has the map, but she says she has something even more valuable. She has had an inspiration and wants to share it with him.
Edward arrives and asks for the map. Skye tells him that she doesn’t have it. In a touching moment Skye tells Edward that she wants to marry Jax and be completely loyal to him in every way. Will Edward give her this chance? Edward tells his granddaughter that she can marry whoever she wants but that if its Jax she will have to stand by and watch his downfall. Skye replies by telling Edward that he can do whatever he wants to Jax, she doesn’t want to be a part of it. She has never ASKED him for anything, will he do this for her? Will he give her the chance to love Jax like he has loved Lila? You don’t want to be the sole heir? He asks surprised. She tells him that she would rather have something from his heart then be the sole heir. If he rips up the contract, she will never ask him for anything again. Since you asked so nicely, how can I say no? Is Edward’s reply. He tells her that he will bring the contract to the dinner and give it to her then. (Gee, I wonder what he will do?)
Jax arrives back home and sees Skye hurriedly packing. He asks what she is doing and she tells him that she’s had an inspiration. Let’s go to Europe or somewhere and get married tonight. He tells her that he is traditional man and wants to have a big wedding if only to see Edward squirm. He pushes her down on the sofa, pushes the suitcase of the way and they start making love.

@ The Hospital
Alan, Monica, Tony & Amy are at the Nurses Station discussing the impending takeover that will happen at 9:00 that night. They figure that Rick will summon a board meeting, however, all the board members are vacation, Monica adds. Everyone agrees, that is what Rick has in mind. He will call an emergency meeting and the takeover will happen. Scott appears and states that he doubts that since Rick is missing. They are all shocked, but realize that it might ring true. No one has seen or heard from Rick since the night before Luke & Laura’s almost wedding. Scott informs the group that no calls have been made on Rick’s cell phone, his bed has not been slept in, and no one has heard from him. Monica wonders out loud how he has access to all this information. The beauty of being DA, Scott tells her. Scott receives a phone call and disappears.
Later, Monica approaches Alan and asks him point blank if he had anything to do with Rick’s disappearance. Oh yes, he replies very sarcastically, I followed him out to his car, beat him and then hired someone to throw him over a cliff. A simple no would have sufficed, Monica replies. Alan tells her that although he would be thrilled if Rick left town and never came back he absolutely had nothing whatsoever to do with his disappearance.

@ An Unknown Locale
Jason arrives for his mysterious meeting, thinking its with Alcazar. He nervously begins to pace. He hears something from behind and spins around pulling his gun out and calling out for Alcazar. But, it is really Elizabeth. He tells her again that its not safe and that they can’t be together. She admits that she had a bus boy at Kelly’s make the call to Jason. Jason begs her to stay away from him. I will, in public, she replies. Who will find us here? No one followed me. She knows how dangerous everything is right now, but everything is a risk, can’t they just take a chance and enjoy there moment alone together? No, he replies. He starts to walk away, but Liz calls out after him. You’re such a LIAR! She yells. I have never lied to you, Jason responds. Your not running away to protect me, your running away to protect yourself, Liz tells him. She apologizes for how she treated him during the whole Zander escapade. She never intended to hurt him or make him think that what they had was worthless. Again, he tells her that its too dangerous and he just wants her out of this. Angrily, Liz informs him that she would miss him too much if he just disappeared out of his life. She would miss they way she felt around him, how she can just be herself and how he cares like no one ever has before. She all but tells him that she loves him. He finally gives into temptation. He places his hand on her cheek and pulls her in for a tender and romantic kiss. After, he slowly and reluctantly lets go and walks away leaving Liz utterly breathless and speechless.

@Alcazar’s
Alcazar walks in and approaches a sleeping “Brenda” (we still don’t see her face). He lies down beside her and tells her that he has to leave again, but not to worry they will soon be able to do what they had planned without any obstacles. He leaves the room and we see Zander sneak around the hallway. He hears someone approach and hides around the corner. Brenda walks into the room. Zander is about to follow when someone throws something at him and knocks him to the floor.

ON THE NEXT GENERAL HOSPITAL:

1) Zander to maid: I have important information.”
Maid to Zander: The woman I work for will be pleased to hear it.

2) Jax to Skye: What gift does Edward have that’s so important?
3) Jason to Sonny: He asked for a neutral site (sonny mumbled something in return but I don’t know what it was, sorry!)
4) A scene with “Daisy” stripping
5) Lucky is woken up from a dream and sees a dead Rick standing over him, he screams.
