General Hospital Update for Monday, 12-Aug-2002

At the Spencer wedding…

Everyone (including the rarely-seen Amy and Tony and Elton) has gathered for Luke & Laura’s wedding, everyone except Luke and Laura, that is. Oh yeah, and Rick. No one seems to have heard from either the bride or the groom, either. Scott sneaks into a corner and tries to call Rick, to no avail. Lucky overhears the call. Lesley tries to call Laura on her cell phone, to no avail. Scott suggests the couple probably eloped and everyone agrees that is probably the case. They get ready to hold the reception without the happy couple. Meanwhile, Lucky points out to Scott that Rick never showed up and it would be unlikely that his parents would have dragged Rick along on their elopement. When they get a chance, Lucky and then Scott sneak out.


At the Scorpio attic (hopefully for the last time)…

A phone is ringing. It is Laura’s cell phone and we hear Lesley leave a message of concern for her daughter. But Laura’s not there; the phone is lying on the floor, seemingly abandoned. Lucky arrives at the attic door and Nikolas is right behind him. Seems Lucky left the wedding in such a hurry that Nikolas followed him. They struggle to get the attic door open and walk in and find a dead Rick!! The brothers can’t believe it. Nikolas reaches to call 911, but Lucky stops him. They think that Luke has probably killed Rick. Suddenly, they hear someone coming up the stairs and the brothers work together to hide the body. It is Scott. They ask each other why they are in the attic (good question…does everyone in Port Charles have access to the Scorpios attic?!!). Nikolas gets a cell phone call. It’s Gia, but Nikolas uses it to pretend like it is Laura calling from Vegas after running off to get married. Gia is utterly confused, but Nikolas succeeds (maybe) in convincing Scott that Luke and Laura did run off and get hitched. With Scott successfully duped, the brothers work together and decide to get rid of the body to protect their parents.


Back at the wedding…

Scott informs everyone of the phone call Nikolas got from Laura in Vegas. Everyone is relieved that they finally checked in. Except Gia…she thinks that “phone call” sounds vaguely familiar.


At Jax’s cabin…

Skye walks in as Jax is on the phone with his dad, talking about the oilfield map. When he asks how the club was last night, she tells him how Roy had been asking about him. Skye suggests Jax not pursue anything with Roy and to leave Sonny alone. She doesn’t understand why he hates Sonny so much. Which, of course, leads to talk of Brenda. And how their hatred of each other is all that’s left of her. (Oh, I wouldn’t be too sure of that.) As their conversation continues, there is a knock on the door. It’s Roy. He makes his case to Jax in person, suggests they team up legally and work against Sonny. Jax isn’t convinced that Roy will be completely legal and declines the offer. Skye is listening from the other room and is thrilled to hear it.

Later, with Skye and Jax gone, we see someone breaking into Jax’s safe and stealing the oilfield map. It’s Roy.


At the police station…

Courtney is freaking out about being in jail all night and missing her special birthday celebration. She is worried about being recognized, but Winona tries to reassure her. Suddenly, AJ & Mike burst into the station to file a missing persons report. His wife didn’t come home all night! Courtney sees him through the interrogation room window and is worried she'll be seen. AJ is concerned that someone after Sonny might have done something to Courtney. The cop reminds AJ & Mike of the 24-hr rule; no report can be filed. As they seem to get nowhere with the cop, who should show up but the sleazy club owner demanding his girls get released. Mr. Sleazeball reminds AJ that they know each other and that he could tell the cops about when AJ ran into his club, drunk. AJ runs off to try to find his wife. Meanwhile, Courtney has been released and thanks her boss for not saying anything to her husband.


At Sonny’s penthouse…

Carly, Sonny & Michael are getting ready for the wedding. Jason shows up and the woman and child go running upstairs. Then Mac shows up and right out of the room they go again. Mac has news that the bomb was put off by a remote detonator, so it was probably meant as a warning only. Mac tries to get some information out of Sonny, but surprise, it doesn’t work. Mac warns him that he won’t be able to keep his family safe. Sonny assures Mac that no one will touch Sonny’s family and if they try, they’ll be sorry. (Nothing like telling the police commissioner that you might seek revenge.)

Just as they are finally ready to leave for the wedding, Carly tells Sonny she got word that the happy couple must have eloped and the wedding is off.

No time to rest. There are more visitors: AJ & Mike. Sonny can't believe they are there but they are desperate. They need help finding Courtney. Michael runs downstairs and whines, "Dis man is a wiar! In de park, he said he wuz my daddy, but you awre!" Sonny doesn't know this story about the park but sends his woman and child upstairs again to deal with Mike & AJ alone. (No wonder Carly is so skinny with the exercise she gets running up and down the stairs!) Sonny starts in about AJ lying and ruining his family, but AJ is desperate. He's not there to fight, he's there to find Courtney. Before Sonny can insult him any further, AJ's cell phone rings and it's Courtney! She's safe! He runs home to be with her.

Mike stays behind and yells at his son a little, tells him that perhaps he should stop with the hate and try to forgive someone. Carly runs down to defend the honor of her husband and remind Mike how AJ has ruined their lives (hello kettle? This is pot. You’re black.) Mike says he is willing to accept AJ for his daughter’s love and he isn’t going to stay away from them simply because Sonny says so. (good for him!) After Mike leaves, Sonny reminds Carly how dangerous it is out there and that she can’t keep secrets from him (like their encounter in the park with AJ and Michael). On cue, Jason shows up. Carly points out that she will keep no secrets from him, but he’s allowed to keep secrets from her. Off she scoots, up the stairs. Jason has pictures of Luis Alcazar. Sonny has no idea who this enemy is or why he’s out to get him.


At AJ & Courtney’s place…

AJ rushes in and grabs his wife. He is thrilled to see her; he was so worried. She tells some lame story about being trapped in the elevator all night. He tells her she’s busted. What? Courtney doesn’t understand how he found out. Turns out he was talking about knowing it was her birthday. He gives her a heart necklace (that you, too, can buy at abc.com!!) and brings her a cake. It is a happy birthday celebration.
