General Hospital Update for Thursday, 4-Jul-2002

PCPD-
Taggart has an irritated Jason brought in again. Taggart tells Jason that Hayes� (the man Jason shot in self defense) cell phone records showed numerous calls to the pay phone near Liz�s studio shortly before his death. When Jason stonewalls his fishing expedition Taggart admits he know that Liz is missing because Lucky reported it. He also knows that Jason�s search has come up empty so far because he still has people looking. He offers to help in the search. When Jason questions his motives, Taggart says he has a soft spot for Liz and doesn�t want to find her dead later�

Harborview Towers-
After promising Michael a trip to the park to watch the fireworks, Carly hangs up the phone and expresses regret that business will keep Sonny from joining them. When Sonny suggests meeting at the club at closing time Carly �happily� tells him she decided to quit. Sonny asks WHY she would do such a thing. Carly claims she just wants to spend all her time with him and Michael and concentrate on expanding their family. Sonny asks if her conversation with Jax the previous night has anything to do with it. Carly denies it and claims she has been considering quitting for a while. It is obvious that Sonny is not convinced by her story�
Later, Jason shows up and tells Sonny that he has had no luck finding Liz. Jason fills Sonny in on Taggart�s offer of assistance. Sonny warns that there will be a price tag attached to Taggart�s help. Jason tells Sonny that he wants to take Taggart up on his offer and admits that Liz means a lot to him�

On the Docks-
Picnic basket in hand, AJ urges Courtney to hurry, but she reminds him she is only on a break from Kelly�s. AJ tells her to ask for the day off but Courtney refuses insisting they need they money. She won�t let him pretend the incident at his parent�s house didn�t happen. When AJ tries to deny responsibility for his actions, Courtney refuses to let him blame Jason or his family. AJ insists it was no big deal, he only took one drink-for effect-and is in no danger of slipping. Courtney tells him she intends to hold him to his promise never to drink again. They agree to meet back at the same place to watch the fireworks after Courtney gets off work�

CLUB 101-
Jax urges a less then enthusiastic Skye to look around and note what if any changes she wants to make. Skye questions why Carly would suddenly quit. Jax comments that he never intended to be in business with MRS. Corinthos and doesn�t want his name linked to Sonny�s even through Carly. Sensing her reluctance, Jax promises Skye that the club is only something for her to �play� with until he can get ELQ back for her. Skye goes off to give the club a once over. Alexis arrives and asks Jax what is so urgent she had to drop everything to rush over. Jax informs her that he wants her to help him dissolve his partnership with Carly. Alexis is not amused and warns Jax that Sonny will be very upset and that Carly will fight him tooth and nail. Jax fills Alexis in on Carly�s embezzlement. Alexis is reluctant to get caught in the middle of the situation especially when Jax doesn�t deny he hired her just to further antagonize Sonny. After managing to charm Alexis into agreeing, he offersher the use of the office, as they will be closed for the holiday. Skye returns with nasty comments about Carly�s taste. She postpones any further discussion on changes by reminding Jax they are late for the Q 4th of July celebration. Alexis guesses that Skye is Carly�s replacement. She tires to warn Jax about Skye by referring to their involvement as �rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic�. But Jax tells her it is none of her business. Promising to return later, he leaves Alexis working on a draft of Carly's termination agreement�

E.L.Q. Crypt-
Zander staves off Liz�s growing panic by holding her close and urging her to visualize being some place else. He describes a beach scene so vividly that Liz guesses he is describing a beach in Florida-where he grew up. Zander fondly mentions someone named Pete but clams up when Liz asks for details on him. He does however give in to her request to keep talking. Zander tells her how he loved the beach and surfing (which makes Liz chuckle) then renders her completely speechless when he tells her that he grew up in a beachfront 15-room (give or take) mansion complete with 5 car garage, tennis courts and pool. Liz admits she never pictured him rich. Zander tells her that he gave it all up, including his name, because he didn�t fit in. Liz wants to know his real name, but Zander insists it doesn�t matter because it isn�t who he is anymore. Liz wonders what they should do to pass the time. Zander comments that he wouldn�t mind spending it just looking at her. He admits that he has always thought she was beautiful. Liz tells him that she now understands what Emily always saw in him. She tells him that selfish as it might sound, she is glad not to be alone in this situation. When she catches him staring at her, Liz asks what he is thinking. Zander replies that he doesn�t want to die without kissing her and then does (kiss her)�

Park-
Felicia cautions Roy that they must be careful in investing because although they might want to attract the attention of the person(s) who gave/left the money, they DON�T want to attract the attention of the IRS. Felicia wonders what she should invest HER half of the money on, Roy wonders when half the money became hers. She teases that it happened when he gave her the key to safe deposit box. Roy agrees that she can have half and Felicia calls him easy. Roy smiles at her and says, �If only you knew�. Felicia asks if he is flirting with her and Roy admits he is trying�

At the Q annual celebration site, Reginald finishes setting up then goes to pick up Lila leaving Edward with his usual griping. Monica and Alan admit they were both worried enough about AJ to check the papers and hospital admittance records. Edward gruffly claims no news is good news. Rick joins the family and is greeted warmly by Monica-who invited him. Alan grumbles about having to spend his holiday with his rival. AJ arrives. Alan asks if he is drunk or sober. Edward demands AJ return the stolen car. In the middle of all this AJ spots Carly and Michael walking by. He goes over to greet them despite Carly�s attempt to usher Michael away. Michael remembers that AJ upset Bobbie when Carly was missing. AJ leans down and tells Michael that he is his father-despite Carly�s warnings. Michael insists Sonny is his father. Carly tells Michael that AJ is just teasing him and quickly walks away leaving behind a strangely silent AJ. Edward berates AJ for missing a golden opportunity. Alan and Monica criticize his behavior and wonder what he accomplished. AJ spots Rick and introduces him self. He tells Rick that he wishes Rick had been his father-it might have saved him from growing up with such lousy parents. Jax and Skye arrive just as Rick reads AJ the riot act. Rick tells AJ instead of playing the victim he should be grateful for what he had. With a disgusted look AJ walks away. Edward stops Skye from following him. Monica apologies to Rick and makes excuses for AJ. Out of the family�s sight AJ stops, pulls a flask out of his pocket and takes a drink. Later Felicia joins the family and asks Edward about an ELQ subsidiary-a children�s clothing company-that she is interested in buying. Edward agrees to meet with her the next day to discuss it. After Jax has left and the fireworks have started, Edward again encourages Skye to celebrate their deal�

Roy�s Apartment-
Roy tells the person on the other end of the phone that he knows it will take the WHOLE million dollars but he is determined to do �this� no matter who tries to stand in his way�

PCPD-
Jason returns to Taggart�s office and accepts his help. He tells Taggart what he knows about the kidnapping and the events that led to the shooting at the bar. Jason explains how the only about clue he has is the whispered �ELQ� from a dying Hayes. Taggart questions the reference to the family business. Jason pulls out the list of ELQ holdings and tells Taggart he has searched what he could get into. Taggart promises to make finding Liz a top priority and says he will have search warrants issued for the rest of the properties. Taggart tells Jason to stay out of the search, but Jason will only agree to �try�. Taggart then asks if his help will get Sonny to drop the lawsuit (so much for his soft spot for Liz). Jason says they will discuss it-after Liz is found�

CLUB 101-
Sonny arrives looking for Jax but finds Alexis diligently working. After some uncomfortable small talk Sonny tells Alexis that he thinks Jax is trying to push Carly out of the club and asks her to file an injunction to stop him. Alexis has to inform him that she can�t because Jax has already hired her. Sonny asks why Jax is pushing Carly out, but Alexis says he�ll have to ask Carly since she won�t violate attorney/client privilege-even for him. Jax returns and tells Sonny to back off. Sonny refuses to leave without knowing why Jax is pushing Carly out of her club. He is shocked when Jax informs him that Carly embezzled $100 grand from the club account�

Harborview Towers-
Jason returns to the PH looking for Sonny but finds only Carly. He is too upset to listen when she tries to tell him about the incident in the park with AJ. He asks if anyone has called him. Carly reports that the police called to say they didn�t find anything. Jason fills Carly in on the fact that Liz is missing. As he is relating the situation to her, he realizes that E.L.Q. might not have anything to do with the Quartermaine�s after all�

On the docks-
AJ sits on a bench and continues drinking from his flask. When he goes to set it down, it drops to the ground. As he bend down to retrieve it he hears Courtney approaching and calling his name. He quickly hides in the shadows to avoid her. Courtney appears and is puzzled that AJ is not there. She walks along the dock until she steps on something. Looking down she sees it a flask�
