General Hospital Update for Monday, 10-Jun-2002

Boy things sure have changed since I had a chance to sit down and bitch about GH! My lovely Jason is home, and thank the Hair Gods, he didn’t waste too much time before getting his coif fixed, A.J.may actually be in love and Liz is rid of that albatross of a boyfriend Lucky. Darlings – let’s begin!

Jason skulks around the docks (he’s so good at it!) keeping an eye on Zander and generally looking rather menacing. Roscoe approaches Zander and Z gives up the names of three of Sonny’s holding companies. Roscoe congratulates him on leaving Sonny’s employ and lets him know that there’s more cash where that came from for any more info he comes up with. Jason glares at the betrayal – what? – is he surprised?

Janine descends on her daughter at Kelly’s. Is it just me, or does anyone else have a problem with this chick’s speech pattern? It sounds like she’s talking with a mouthful of marbles or something – and she lays into Courtney about how her marriage to A.J. was supposed to let her take the blue collar off. Puhlease, she should talk, you can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the girl! Courtney stands up to Mom and tells her that she’s prepared to stand by her man and that she didn’t marry him for his money – and it’s a good thing cuz A.J. can’t scrape together the cheese to buy them breakfast! Janine goes so far as to offer to take Courtney out of town (on money courtesy of Edward no doubt) and Courtney tells her not to worry about her marriage – they’re fine. Later, Liz offers to take the rest of Court’s shift so that she can go apartment hunting.

While Liz is at Kelly’s, Zander stops by and asks he if she wants to go out and then proceeds to flash a wad of cash. Liz is stunned and asks him where he got all that dough. Of course, she comes to her senses and realizes that it’s ill-gotten gain. She tries to politely tell him that there’s no need to blow all that money on her, that Jakes and a pizza will work fine. Zander’s miffed at her lack of enthusiasm and tells her he earned that money – right, what is the going rate for a mob informant these days?

Over on Bishop Street (probably two blocks North of Courtlandt Street!) Court is negotiating a better deal on a “fixer-upper” of an apartment. She then leaves a message with Liz at Kelly’s for A.J. to meet her there. When he arrives he’s amazed at the transformation she’s wrought. Of course he didn’t see it before, but she did do a nice little job of making it homey and warm. Low lights and candles hide a multitude of sins! She explains that while her mother always spent money on the things people could see, like clothing, cars, etc., she always liked to learn how to make their home look nicer on a shoestring. A low rent Martha Stewart if you will!

Over at the gym, Jax stands around in his suit while Ned pumps it up. Jax tells Ned that he agrees with Kristina and that Ned’s a little too consumed with Alexis and her problems. At least more so than he should be IF he is really over her. A.J. shows up looking for Skye (also known as Money) and Jax lays into him for running to his sister to bail him out. Truly, it does make A.J. look even more pathetically needy – first his wife, now his sister. Obviously the guy thinks this is a temporary situation, otherwise why isn’t he out pounding the pavement?
Anyway, Jax and Ned berate A.J. on his sleazy schemes and vow that both Skye and Courtney would be better off without him. In fact, when A.J. has the cojones to ask Jax for a loan, he makes A.J. an offer: he’ll give him a “sizeable” amount of cash if he stays out of Courtney and Skye’s lives. Give A.J. credit, he didn’t waver when professing his love for both ladies. Later, Ned rags on Jax’s remark to Kristina about her being “Alexis without the baggage” – apparently it struck a nerve… Jax says he’ll watch his mouth.

Alexis is reading everything she can get her hands on re: pregnancy and childbirth. She has a heart to heart with her unborn child and tells it that its’ father is an honorable man, and that nothing is more important to him than family. She also mentions that they will be fine alone, but that she doesn’t have the right to keep Sonny from his child, nor does she want to try. Her mind made up, she marches across the hall and knocks on the door.
Unfortunately, she interrupts Sonny and Carly just as they are about ready to do the horizontal mambo. Carly listens from the top of the stairs as Alexis tells Sonny that she has something very important to tell him – alone. Carly’s insecurities resurface and she sails down the stairs to link her arms around Sonny and asks if their conversation can wait. Alexis backs off and walks back to her penthouse. Sonny mentions getting something to eat and takes off for a shower. Carly takes the opportunity to call Alexis and taunt her about their one night stand being it – the end, finito. So stop chasing my man!! Alexis states that Carly’s paranoia is running wild again and hangs up on her. Carly goes upstairs to dress as Jason enters and tells Sonny that Zander ratted him out. Jason and Sonny step into the hall to discuss this latest turn of events even as Alexis makes up her mind once again to tell Sonny the truth. As she starts to leave her apartment, she overhears their discussion of betrayal and of the consequences of being a traitor. As she leans against the door, she tells her child that she was wrong, that the baby’s father is a criminal and that sharing her child with him would be dangerous to them both.

Jax visits Edward at his office and Edward lets slip that Skye may just be a piece of the puzzle he’s working on with A.J. Jax warns the old man that Skye is a priority in his life and he should be careful about whom he drags into his vendetta against A.J. Meanwhile, a guilty looking Ned brings flowers to the hospital for Kristina and while there, bumps into the e.r. doc who took care of Alexis. The doctor recognizes Ned and asks him if he’s aware of his friends’ “condition” – Ned lies and says he is.

Zander’s on the docks when Jason materializes from the shadows telling him that Sonny sent him….
