General Hospital Update for Friday, 31-May-2002

1. Alexis’ Penthouse - “Complications” - Sonny shows up at Alexis’ door, wanting to see if she’s alright. She evades his questions and won’t let him in (mindful of the positive pregnancy test on her coffee table). He observes that she’s acting strange and she should really tell him what’s on her mind before she overthinks things like she usually does. Alexis insists that everything is okay and she will see him later at Carly’s “welcome home” party. Sonny leaves, and Alexis hurries back into the penthouse. She scoops up the pregnancy test and all its paraphernalia and deposits everything in the trash, just as Jax enters through the still-open door. He tells her he’s glad Carly and Sonny seem to be back together; that will save her from a disastrous relationship with Sonny herself. Alexis admits that things got complicated between her and Sonny; they became good friends and then the line got blurred. But they are ill-suited to each other, Alexis says, and she’s relieved Carly’s back. She goes upstairs to change for the party, leaving a satisfied Jax behind.

2. Carly’s House - “The Truth, Carly-Style” - Jason tells Carly he knows she faked her death because he has an eyewitness who placed her at a diner ordering her favorite meal. Carly insists she did almost die and woke up in the cabin just like she said. She just decided to stay missing, but she came back when she heard a body had been found. Jason says he has to tell Sonny that she lied again. Carly stops him from leaving and goes into more details about what happened. She relives the car, describing how she clawed her way out of the car and stayed at a cabin for a few days to recuperate. Then she walked to the nearest town and was going to call Bobbie, but she saw a newspaper article about how everyone was searching for her. She decided to make Sonny wait a little longer so he’d feel guilty about sleeping with Alexis. But she came back when she did because she didn’t want anyone to believe she was dead. Carly says that she and Sonny have another chance at happiness now and pleads with Jason not to tell him. Jason says Sonny will find out. Carly asks that he wait a little while. Sonny arrives to take her to the party. Carly walks Jason out and promises to tell Sonny the truth in her own way. Back inside, she and Sonny kiss and wind up on her bed upstairs. Sonny says he thought she was mad at him. Carly says she will let it go, because she chooses to be happy. Sonny says he has forgiven her for turning him in to the FBI. Carly confesses she has something else to tell him. Then she turns on the waterworks and talks about almost dying and how she wanted to hurt him for sleeping with Alexis and how she’s so sorry. Sonny buys every word. Carly says they should go to the party; she wants to have some fun.

3. Quartermaine Mansion - “True Q” - A.J. steps between Monica and Courtney and yells at his mother for slapping his wife. Alan tells Monica to get control. Courtney storms out of the room. Monica tells A.J. to let her go, that this is his chance to cut his losses. A gleeful Edward points out that A.J. doesn’t have to abuse his wife now; all he has to do is tell Courtney he’s siding with his family. Then Sonny will have to turn over Michael to get his sister out of a miserable marriage. Skye enters and tells A.J. not to be as twisted as the old geezer. Edward says, you set out to get your son, now stick with it. Monica says A.J. is just trying to impress Edward, and he’s been doing that his whole life. Alan urges his son to let Courtney go. Courtney comes back into the living room with a suitcase and her puppy Rosie. Let’s go, she says to her husband. A.J. hesitates. Edward tells Courtney she can go stay with her brother. In an incredibly bold move, A.J. chooses to go with Courtney and he even lays Edward’s plan out in the open, how he wanted A.J. to pretend to be drunk and abuse his wife. He and Courtney leave. Skye tells Edward the game is over and he’s lost. Edward promises to handle A.J. and then her.

4. Kelly’s Diner - “Party Time” - Outside Kelly’s, Lucky is still talking to Sarah about how he never intended to hurt Maxie’s feelings, when Bobbie, Scott, and Elizabeth arrive with party supplies. They all go inside. Lucky tries to talk to Elizabeth. She takes the opportunity to tell him that Jason is back in town. Lucky warns her not to rebound into something that could hurt her. Elizabeth walks away and Sarah comes over. She observes that Lucky seems bothered by the possibility of Liz and Jason getting together. Could he be jealous? Maxie and Felecia arrive. While Bobbie and Scott are going over the list of things needed for the party and writing each other silly little love notes in initial-format, Sarah asks Liz why she mentioned Jason to Lucky. Liz supposes she was just shooting her mouth off. Lucky goes over to Felecia and tells her he ended up hurting Maxie but he’s glad she let him know about the crush before things got worse. Maxie observes them talking and blasts her mother for ruining her chances with Lucky after he’s walked away. She points out that she never tried to screw up her mom’s relationship with Luke then stomps off. Roy comes over to offer Felecia support. Lucky takes pictures of Sarah while she and Liz are dancing. Scott tells Bobbie he’s been thinking about their kiss on the docks. They kiss again. Liz spills her drink on Sarah, who goes upstairs to change. Lucky goes upstairs to get more film for the party. Jason comes in and Bobbie says she’s glad to see him. Then Jason goes over to say hello to Elizabeth, who’s surprised to see him. He says Carly invited him but he also wanted to see her (Liz). Maxie is looking for Lucky. Upstairs, Sarah asks Lucky to help her with her stuck zipper, which of course leads to a kiss. Outside the diner, Carly and Sonny arrive. Carly sends Sonny inside without her, claiming she needs a minute to collect herself. Then she pulls out her cell phone and tries to call Jason but can’t find him. Jax and Alexis arrive. Carly wants to talk to Alexis alone. Inside, Sonny greets Jason and asks if the lead on the guy who saw Carly panned out. Outside, Carly tells Alexis to stay away from Sonny. “There’s nothing you have to offer that I can’t give him,” she snipes and starts to walk away. Alexis says, half to herself, “I wouldn’t bet on that.” Carly hears and turns back.

5. A.J.’s Hotel Suite - “A New Beginning” - A.J. assures Courtney that she did him a favor; he should have left the family home a long time ago. Courtney says it feels right to be back where they first fell in love. They hug and a SINCERE A.J. says it’s like it’s happening for the first time. Their love feels brand new. They kiss.
