General Hospital Update for Thursday, 23-May-2002

While at the spa for a massage, Gia gets a visit from her brother who reminds her that her time is running out for her to decide if she will leave Nikolas or be turned in. She maintains her innocence and even manages to act hurt and indignant that he doesn't believe her! She makes it very clear that she is not leaving Nik or Port Charles. She gets pretty hurtful and ends up telling Marcus that she doesn't need him at all. He walks out looking very sad. Of course, Nikolas just happens to be outside the door. He comes in to find a crying Gia who admits to him that she is scared. He reassures her once again that he feels Taggert is bluffing and won't turn her in. He points out that Taggert is offering to cover up evidence and obstruct justice to protect her, which is just what Nik did. She tells him that she doesn't want Marcus hurt or his career messed with and insists that she deal with him herself. Nik says he will back off. As soon as she is out of the room, he makes a phone call and says he needs a job done getting "something" om someone who is becoming a problem. Gia walks back in and he pockets the phone and gives her a hug. Watch out Nikolas, your Cassadine background is taking over!!!

Luke, Roy and Scotty are at the hospital in a little huddle. Scotty shares that he thinks A.J. is behind the DNA mix up that identified the body as Carly. They agree that he has motive (her death would have made getting Michael back easier) and of course the means. But no evidence. To create a diversion as only Luke can, he drops to the ground in agony as nurses come a-running. He's yelling about pain and needing help while Roy uses the computer to find out who did the DNA testing. Luke ends up with a neck brace, ice pack and pain medication:) Scotty brings down the lab tech that did the testing and they corner him to find out what happened. He spun a tale of a cute nurse that distracted him. He voices concern that Sonny will come after him for the mistake. Luke calls him a liar and demands the truth. They are interrupted by Bobbie who sends away the lab tech and tells the boys to back off, she just wants the whole thing forgotten. After she goes, Luke states that he is going to get some answers and takes off. Watching Luke and Scotty working together is great! They are on the same team, but can't stop insulting each other.

A.J. and Edward continue to try to come up with a plot to get Michael back. A.J. appears more determined and unstable than ever before. He takes off for a visit to Carly (more on that later) When he returns, he tells Edward that he has a plan to get rid of Mike. Go after his weakness- Gambling.

Carly has quite a few visitors today. First of which is Jax with a big bunch of flowers. He calms her concerns about the club letting her know that business was booming. He tells her that everyone missed her especially Sonny. She tells him that she feels Sonny is hiding something from her. When he leaves, A.J. is seen lurking outside the door. Bobbie comes in next and they have a warm, fuzzy mother-daughter talk. After Bobbie leaves, A.J. comes in and tells her that her being alive will not change the fact that he is determined to be Michaels father. He rambles on with vague threats about his intentions when he is interupted by Mike who tells him to get out. Mike then assures Carly that Sonny was devastated when he thought she was dead and had even admitted that he had made mistakes...blah, blah, blah. She seems very happy to hear that.

When Jax leaves Carly, he goes to the little cabin in the woods where he is greated by an very elaborate authentic Japanese meal complete with lanterns, screens, umbrellas, serving utensils, food and Skye in a traditional Geisha Girl outfit. They share some serious conversation, and soon Skye is out of her traditional Geisha Girl outfit. After they make love, and are talking, Skye shares that she questions the story Carly gave about the accident, that everything was a little too convenient. Jax laughs and states that Carly is after Sonny again and Skye has her conspiracy theory and the Universe is back to normal.

In Alexis' apartment, she and Sonny are continuing their painful conversation from yesterday. Sonny seems uncomfortable with all of the talking and analizing that Alexis is doing, but does his best to give her what she needs. She is trying hard to make sure that they deal with Carly's return with honesty. She shares that she is worried that there will be well-intentioned lies. She also doesn't want denial or avoidance to mess up their hard won friendship and trust. When asked if he was still in love with Carly he replied that he never stopped loving her (To this die-hard Sexis fan, I have to comment that he didn't use the words "IN LOVE" with her, just love her). He tells her that he cares about her and doesn't want to lose her friendship. She makes the comment that almost losing Carly made him re-evaluate his feelings for her, which he didn't deny. He asks her if being his lawyer would be uncomfortable for her and she says it won't. Sonny tries to stop the conversation for now, but Alexis is determined to talk it through today. She tells him she cares for him deeply and gets a little misty. She's not giving up, she says, just breathing. She then tells him to go home and be with his wife. He walks out. She tries to do paperwork, but can't and goes to the door, but stops and just stands there. Meanwhile Sonny is also trying in vain to get some work done, but can't. There's a knock at the door and he opens it and seems surprised to see Carly standing there. In my opinion, he didn't look too thrilled, I think he was expecting Alexis. Through the whole conversation with Sonny, Alexis stayed very calm and direct. She did not cry or cling and handled herself very well! I feel that he didn't say more, because he doesn't know exactly how he feels, but knows that he needs to explore his feelings for Carly. Alexis is truly giving him a choice and if (when) he comes back to her it will not be out of guilt or sympathy.
