At the church…
Carly is confused, slowly checks everyone out, starts to ask why everyone is there. She makes her way up the aisle and finally sees the casket and her picture. She runs out. Sonny and Bobbie run after her. Edward’s first reaction is “This does not bode well for our chances at getting Michael back.” Alan and Monica are shocked. Edward does admit he’s happy Carly is alive, but still says it’s a problem. Alexis is in shock, starts thanking God. Ned & Kristina are worried about Alexis. She has to catch her breath. Kristina runs after Zander and tells him this is his chance, a miracle happened so don’t let those angry words be his last to her. Skye is lighthearted with Jax but he is worried about Carly being overwhelmed. Zander heads off to find Carly, but Mike stops him and says Sonny needs to be the one to find her. “Let my son have his miracle,” Mike urges.
Sonny catches up with Carly, who is so confused, thinks she’s dead or something. She has a big contusion on her forehead. Sonny finally convinces her that she is alive, a mistake was made and everything will be all right. They embrace. Bobbie shows up and they embrace as well. Carly is taken to the hospital.
Alexis feels much better once Carly is headed towards the ambulance. Roy and Luke make it their mission to answer some of the questions arising after Carly reappeared…what happened to her, whose body is this, why did the DNA match, how did Carly end up at the service.
Gia and Taggert run into each other at the funeral. Gia is antagonistic. Taggert asks how it went when she told Nikolas about the proof he found. Taggert tells her to learn from what happened to Carly. Take the second chance he’s giving her and start over. He urges her to go home and pack and head back to Brooklyn. She isn’t having any of it.
Liz tries to talk to Sarah, wonders if this service reminds her of when her husband died. Liz admits that it takes her back to when they thought Lucky had died. The Webber girls bond and eye Lucky from afar. He stays away, talks to Maxie for a bit until Felicia calls her away. Elizabeth walks right past him but he goes and sits by Sarah, ignoring their stay-away-from-each-other vow. But don’t worry, she quickly reminds him of that. He says he isn’t going to walk away when she is hurting. She admits she needs him, but she says they are playing with fire and Lizzie is the one who will get burned. She doesn’t want to hurt her sister as they seem to be getting closer. Sarah and Lucky hug, but go their separate ways.
At the Quartermaine house…
A.J. reads the paper, Carly’s obituary. He tries to make school arrangements at some exclusive school for Michael (whose name might be changing to Alan James III). Courtney finds him and tells him that she no longer is sure she is ready to be Michael’s mother. She thinks it will be a tough job with his mother gone. AJ reassures her and tells her she would be a fantastic mom, that she only needs to love Michael. He thinks she has maternal instincts. Just as he convinces her, Edward, Monica and Alan show up after the “funeral” with the news that Carly isn’t dead after all. AJ says it is wonderful news, but I’ll bet he isn’t thinking that. Courtney suggests maybe Carly would’ve had some sort of spiritual awakening with her near-death experience and would want to include AJ in Michael’s life. Alan yells at AJ for his behavior. Monica cuts him off and yells at Alan. Edward eyes AJ and suggests that some plan of his didn’t quite work out. Edward warns him of fighting Carly now, she could appear saintly, the victim of a hit-and-run, a mother battling all odds to come back to her son. AJ is pissed and vows to not let Sonny raise his child.
At Kelly’s Diner…
Alexis, Ned & Kristina are there to get something to eat. Leticia and Michael are at the next table: Michael is whining for his mommy. Alexis’ maternal instincts (huh?) kick in and she goes over to Michael and tells him she saw his mommy and confirms she’ll be back to him soon. He is happy to hear this news. Ned is surprised at Alexis’ treatment of Michael. Kristina asks Alexis how she thinks Carly’s return will affect her relationship with Sonny. Alexis avoids the question. Kristina says it should work out well, the rejected woman did not tragically die. Kristina wonders if her sister even wants Sonny anymore.
At the morgue…
Luke and Roy flash phony badges to get into the morgue. Laura is there, thrilled to have found them. They do some investigative work in the morgue and determine that bodies were switched. Laura manages to get access to the computer system and they find the name and address of the body in Carly’s casket. They will go visit this person to hope they can find who paid them off to use their body, wondering who would have the means and desire to do this.
At the hospital…
Zander wants to wait at the hospital to see Carly, but Sonny tells him another time. Tony reports that Carly has a possible concussion, but is basically fine. Bobbie reassures Carly that Michael is great and will be waiting for her. Carly is grateful. Carly can’t remember much of what happened; she doesn’t know why she left Sonny’s place upset and asks Sonny if he knows specifically what she was upset about.
At Wyndermere…
Gia is so afraid and tells Nikolas about her run-in with her brother. He reassures her that Taggert has no proof and would never turn in his own sister. He vows to always be there for her. Alone, Nikolas opens an envelope that holds an “In Memoriam” plaque for his father; there is no death date on it.
