General Hospital Update for Tuesday, 30-Apr-2002

Gia bursts into Laura's office disrupting a meeting and putting Laura on the spot in front of an associate. After Laura gets Elton to show the man around, Gia summarizes the photo shoot incident, tells Laura that she won�t put up with being treated that way and demands that Laura either fire Lucky or find herself a new face of Deception. Lucky overhears the demand and puts his two-cents worth in. HE has no problem doing his job despite the tension between him and his model and claims he can prove it. Lucky produces the proofs of the photo shoot. He and Laura agree that it�s some of the best work he�s ever done. As a parting shot, Lucky adds that IF Gia can�t handle her end of the job, then maybe SHE should be replaced-with Vivica Jewel. Laura tells Gia that she holds her responsible for the changes in Nik. When Gia tells Laura that Nik has done everything he could to make up with Lucky, Laura answers that he hasn�t done the one most important thing-TELL THE TRUTH. She then advises the girl that if she wants to quit she can, but it will sever another link between Nik and his family AND it will be on her conscience. Before dismissing her, Laura tells Gia that if she ever has to choose between one of her sons and Gia, her son will win-hands down EVERYTIME�

Skye shows up at the office and after some snide remarks from Edward offers to hand ELQ over on a platter-IF he helps her convince A.J. to give up his scheme of using Courtney to get at Sonny-before AJ gets hurt. Edward accuses Skye of going soft, but DOESN�T accept or decline the offer�

Kristina shows up with a gift for her sister to show that she accepts the new relationship with Sonny. A distressed Alexis fills Kristina in on the latest development-Carly�s accident. Kris tries to assure Alexis that Sonny does care about HER despite his apparent distress over his ex-wife�s possibly fatal accident. Alexis appears irritated with her sister�s concern. After receiving a call from Sonny-she rushes to his side at the accident site�

Courtney is appalled at AJ�s reaction to the news of Carly�s accident. She can�t believe that he would be so cold as to be happy that Michael lost his mother. AJ claims he doesn�t believe the story because Carly doesn�t drive. He tells her that Sonny made the story up to keep from discussing Michael with her. Courtney is unconvinced because she believes Sonny was genuinely distressed. Courtney brings up the subject of the deal he discussed with Sonny on their wedding night. A.J. has to think quickly and tries to convince Courtney that Sonny was the one who wanted the trade. He tells her he loves her and no matter how much he wants Michael he wouldn�t trade her. Courtney remains unsure whom to believe because she is sure that Sonny loves Michael too much to trade him for her or anyone else. AJ tries to stop Courtney from going out alone when she claims that she needs time to think�

Meanwhile, at the bluff, Jax and Sonny watch as the police slowly winch Carly's car out of the lake. As Scott & Bobbie arrive, Zander admits to Sonny that he taught Carly to drive. Sonny lashes out at Zander and questions why he would do such a thing. Jax overhears and informs Sonny that Carly WANTED to be independent. Detective Capelli informs those gathered that the car was empty and the drivers side window was down which leads them to hope that Carly escaped the car and is alive-somewhere. Later, the detective cautions Bobbie that Carly's survival is still very much in doubt because of the freezing water. Sonny apologizes to Zander for his harsh words (with out actually saying the words �I�m Sorry� though). Zander still blames himself for Carly�s accident. Alexis shows up and watches Sonny from a distance. When he feels her gaze and looks up, she moves to stand next to him at the railing. She offers comfort and encouragement by resting her hand gently on his. Later, as Bobbie and Sonny discuss what to do next, Scott cautions Alexis that no body, while an apparently hopeful sign, can become a long and drawn out emotional drain for all involved�

Edward rushes home and informs AJ of the deal Skye offered him. AJ has his own news; he may no longer need Courtney to get Michael and then gleefully informs Edward that Carly may have been involved in a fatal accident. Edward warns AJ NOT to speak ill of Carly, whom he reminds AJ beat him at every turn and whom Edward has nothing but admiration for. Edward advises AJ that he needs Courtney now maybe more that before if he wants to get his son back. He tells AJ that he not only has to stay married, but also appear to be the perfect husband and father AND keep Courtney happy and clueless so she will remain on his side�

During Courtney�s stroll on the docks, she bumps into Gia, who warns her that she is in no mood to listen to more accident related bashings. Courtney tells Gia she has more important things to worry about. When Gia inquires, Courtney reluctantly fills Gia in on her marriage to AJ and the subsequent problems. Gia offers help and innocently tells Courtney that she once worked for AJ, but then reveals that AJ was only using her to get at her brother over a woman they where both interested in. Gia�s words make something click for Courtney, who does an about face on Gia�s previous offer of help. She wants to know if Gia is as good at detecting a lie as she is at telling one. When Gia confirms that she CAN usually tell when someone is lying, Courtney invites her to dinner at the Q house to help her determine whom she can trust�

Jax shows up at ELQ and Skye immediately starts to complain about Edward and refusal to help her stop AJ. She is stunned when Jax tells her he doesn�t want to hear about Edward or any of her dysfunctional family problems at the moment. After he reveals some of the details of Carly�s accident Skye realizes that it reminds him of Brenda�s death. When she presses for details of Brenda�s accident Jax harshly tells her he doesn�t want to discuss it�

A sad and dejected Zander returns to his room at Jake's where he carefully picks up the pieces of the pool cue Carly gave him. As he throws himself down on the bed, he hears a noise at the door. He sits up and hopefully calls out Carly's name as the door swings open to reveal someone standing in the doorway...
